Re: FS: Fischer S-Bound 98 EZ-Skin 179

I think 179cm would be too short for you. I'm 5'8" 135-145lbs and the 169cm S112 is perfect...which means the 179cm S98 would be pretty good for me (I have 185cm in other narrower skis which are a touch long but still turn well). At 220lbs, there would be zero kick and glide and no flotation for yo...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding System Review

Not measured in miles but smiles Blegh who wrote this copy? Screen Shot 2021-09-21 at 8.33.43 AM.png I'm skeptical. Balancing on 2 pins foot way in the air, all pressure on one small area. I dunno. How is this going to be a big improvement? Then-- "better ankle support" when they show the Alpina Ala...

Skiing in august. tough day... 6 mile approach 4500ft vertical. lots of boulders to get here...only to find breakable crust. but can't complain, it was sunny most of the day.

Lower Spire, Alaska. 12 months of skiing complete.

Re: (Asnes) fishscale ideas

Well I know peeps on this site tend to like there skis on the long side, maybe they would climb better if they were sized down and still have acceptable glide. It sounds like more of a problem than just in specific situations. I find it hard to believe Asnes doesn't have this right. There is some t...

Re: WAX HELP, PLS!!

Oooh this is the nice one The kits of grip wax essentials come with a cork and a couple of plastic scrapers, which are really useful. This kind of thing: https://www.swixsport.com/us/ski-wax/wax-kits/p30-xc-wax-kit-cont.7pcs/?code=7045950000239 You may need some colder wax if it gets colder where yo...

Madshus chord length, someone have pair to measure?

Straight line chord length from tip to tail. Fisher 189 = something like 187 in chord length, for example.

Can anyone measure a Madshus xcd ski, like an Eon or Annum or panorama m,? IIRC a 175 Madshus is about 178 or something, right?

Re: (Asnes) fishscale ideas

The idea I poorly illustrated above reduces the fishscale depth under the heel, which is a high friction area, and extends shallow scales forward across an area we traditionally slather in kick wax without ill effects. I am a firm believer that for high performance skis, the fishscale pattern needs...

Re: Asnes Falketind 62 versus Rabb 68

So it would appear that you accept that manufacturers produce, per your post, bad skis and somehow consumers should accept this as part of the game even if it is at our expense. I disagree. Particularly when paying 30% more for the ski. You say, regarding irregularities in the shovels "this happens...

Re: (Asnes) fishscale ideas

You said the trails are too narrow to sidestep but when I'm in the situation you describe I find that I will sidestep with my skis at a 15 or 20 degrees from the direction of travel. Just enough to lessen the angle and enable you to get more of the weighted part of the ski on the snow. Your ideas w...
