Re: Cheap Army Surplus Climbing Skins

I have the patterned ones posted above, they are awesome. I've never used any other skins, so I have nothing to compare to, but when I go up, they go up, and when I go down, they go down slowly.

What price are you asking? Do these boots have a mondo size?

Thanks!

Re: Voile Objective BC: grip or glide?

I don't have any advice on the wax, but if you want to sell those old Objectives that are just sitting there collecting dust, taking up space, I'll take 'em off your hands ;)

Re: Is it ridiculous to put AT tech bindings on Altai Hoks?

I wouldn’t. Too much boot for the Hoks. Get a 75 mm and use the Alaskas. You can do powder on Hoks but its gonna be work. I’ve got Koms mounted with TTS thats a pleasureable combination but if I was just beating around in the bush and not doing vertical/challenging stuff I’d go Xplore. Sorry, I mea...

Is it ridiculous to put AT tech bindings on Altai Hoks?

I'm looking to learn the non-free-heel side of things, and got a great deal on some Speed Turn bindings and TLT boots. Ideally I'd like to pair them with a Voile V6 BC, but that costs 2x as much... This setup would be for deep powder, moderate terrain, and as a compliment to Panorama M78's w/ Alpina...

Re: Light gear does a good telemarker make?

I'm learning on 78mm skis, "floppy boots and bindings" (Alaskas and 3 pins), and having a pretty damn good time.

Anybody that has to get so serious about a pointless pursuit like skiing, on the internet, is probably not somebody you want to listen to, or hang out with anyway...

I learned to tele ski on nordic racing gear in the 80s. you can learn on anything. and plenty of cheap gear is out there, especially boots in sizes smaller than US 9.

Certainly seems the used market is dominated by people with hobbit feet

Re: Tele --> AT

I have to say that the potential transition from Tele to alpine gear was precipitated by a particularly challenging day of tele skiing. I'm brand new, but I'm a perfectionist, and winding up face down in 3 feet of snow at the bottom-half of every run had me questioning everything. As it goes, I went...

Re: Tele --> AT

Also, I have an old pair of t2's that might fit you, they're mondo 27. pm if interested. Finally, as it seems like you're an inexperienced (or maybe never?) skier, I would think adding a cable to your current setup will go a long way to just feeling stable while sliding downhill, much less making a...

Re: Gear Basket

Looking for plastic boots, stumbled onto these $75 Crispis. Pretty sure people here like these leather boots? Not my sale.
