Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding System Review

I agree that the back foot is that differentiates the Telemark turn from the alpine turn. One simple thing I have learned that helps develop back foot technique is doing the back foot hockey stop. I do it a lot just because I enjoy it.

Re: Wildly speculative talk about Asnes 21-22 lineup: Otto/FT62

At 190 lbs, and not a ballerina I could use the Falketind a little stiffer. I still hope for that magic flex, however if they improved hardpack performance a little for the approach it wouldn’t hurt. As far as the skiers performance, that isn’t powder. That is unprotected snow, not a tree in sight. ...

Re: Wildly speculative talk about Asnes 21-22 lineup: Otto/FT62

Hello Woods, I couldn’t agree more with you in terms of the FT. A little more of a wax pocket, and a little stiffer all sound great. As far as Otto, I’m not sold it would be a ski for me. Even at 190 lbs. I can’t bend my Gamme 210 into a turn. I am not saying I should be able to bend it. I can utili...

Re: Boot Review- Long-Term Test- Alaska BC-Guard BC-Svartisen BC

Thank you Gareth for taking the time to write this. I could see a possibility of picking up a Guard someday. However for me that makes the Alaska so great is the fit. I have never had any footwear fit so perfectly, like an expensive custom boot maker made it just for me. So I’ll probably just be hap...

Re: Alpina Discovery 102

I believe that is 102-64-87 There was a guy that skied the same trail I do. He seemed to carry a good pace, he climbed the steep trails well, and he bragged about how well they turned. Now I’m not running out and buying a pair, but they certainly must be a quite capable backcountry ski that turns, c...

Kelly Kettle Scout

I will admit I’m much more of a truck camper, as a matter of fact I am planning on having a back pack overnight kit put together for next winter. I appreciate any input on that. Most of my camps are pretty Spartan. I am going fishing and I need a place to sleep and eat. What I did last night is a co...

Re: Ultimate mix & mash binding set-up

That's a real Rube Goldberg setup, an "Explodomat" binding-- 20+ year old plastic Voile piston, crazy torqueing from all kinds of directions all at once, and plenty of extra wt., plus a perforated ski from all the extra screws. What could go wrong? A very brave tele skier. At least he has releasabl...
