Re: Adding more skis to my quiver

Kastler is offering some waxless skis, Varuste price is good. I don’t know anything about the ski.

Re: Adding more skis to my quiver

I have a Nansen WL at 205 cm, and I have Falketind Xplore at 196 cm. I look at it quite simply, the Nansen is an XC ski you can turn, the FT X is a downhill ski that kicks and glides. The Nansen does not turn like a downhill ski, and while the FT X kicks pretty well, it certainly doesn’t track like ...

Re: XCD skis on hardpack at the resort

I did have the first gen Falketind, yes it did banana. It was much softer longitudinally. It was not supportive in deep snow. It was a flawed design in my mind, Johnny preferred the original design.
However on hardpack it was definitely not a torsional noodle.

Re: XCD skis on hardpack at the resort

I had a S-112 and a USGI ski at the time. The S-112 was such a torsional noodle when I was skiing at the ski hill with my son. I also found I could climb better with wax and the USGI, yet the scales on the S-112 were so slow on compacted snow. My Falketind Xplore is 196 cm, so I don’t know for certa...

Re: Light gear does a good telemarker make?

I ski the lightest gear that makes sense. If I’m on snow it’s good. I drop a knee every chance I get, sometimes I’m not even really making turns, just a short narrow downhill, just drop a knee, up, drop the other knee. Naturally, as a Telemarker, I make all the turns I can, so I guess I’ll never mak...

Re: Light gear does a good telemarker make?

Been thinking, vodka involved. Telemark originated on "light" gear, serving the purpose of going downhill on nordic gear. Maybe a better question is, can I really tele if I can't tele light gear. And, if not, then of course I would be a better telemarker I can telemark whatever im on. What even is ...

Re: XCD skis on hardpack at the resort

Wow, those Rottefella leashes are nice for $20. They look similar to what I have on my resort skis.

Here is a photo of my home made XCD leashes for resort use.

Re: Boot recommendations /shiver/txpro/evo

It has to be about the fit first. I’ve read good things about the flex of the Shiver boots. I fit Scarpa boots, I believe the Crispi would be too high volume for me. I would think the opposite would be the case for you. If you’re just walking on carpet, they are returnable. I know that isn’t skiing,...
