Re: The new Scarpa TX Comp ?

fatskinning The Voile Transit TTS has a tour mode in which the tech toe is locked, and a ski mode in which the toe has the possibility of release. I’ve had mine release twice in 2 seasons. I thought the one release was legitimate, although not necessary, I thought the second release was a little li...

Re: Pinnah's Simple Kick Waxing For Touring

I do cork it over very lightly using a synthetic cork. I look at applying Nordic grip waxes differently than when I first started. I used to cork all Nordic grip waxes with a natural cork, I corked them until they were warm and really shined. Now when I am applying for grip, or a thin layer of cold ...

Re: 3-pin binding choice

My experience is different than John’s. While I prefer the Rottefella Super Telemark (with cable) for leather boots. My Voile 75 mm bindings have been robust. I have a couple sets that have seen many years and miles with both plastic and a pair of heavy, thick soled, leather boots. I have never even...

Re: Tele --> AT

As has been said, no need to go AT to make parallel turns. I was out today on Voile V6 BC and Scarpa T3 (Voile 3-pin cable bindings) and my skis were parallel for all turns. Terrain was fairly mellow, got about 6-8 turns in a couple of different times. (My wife on similar gear did all tele turns.) ...

Re: Fischer Travers CS limitations?

Hello Matt, I don’t know much about AT boots, but technically I own two, an old F-1 and F-1 Race. These are the old bellowed AT boots. I use them to Telemark ski. What I do know, is that the type of boot you are purchasing are light, and stiff. I don’t think you are going to be overpowering it. Make...

Re: Bellows won't flex at all

I believe John S is correct in his assumption. As far as new 75mm boots, you can choose between Scarpa and Crispi. Scarpa is a less voluminous fit, they say Crispi has more volume. The Scarpa T2 has good reviews, I ski a T4 and an F1. Crispi makes an XP and an XR in 75 mm. The XP is 3 buckle, XR is ...

Re: unprepared terrain and tracks

Gamme fits in tracks, but is not pleasant to ski in tracks. The stiff tip, combined with full length edges has the stiff edges grabbing the sides of the tracks. It isn’t fun. On the other hand, my MT 51 fits in tracks, has 3/4 length steel edges, and the tips are noodles. They are great in tracks. H...

Re: Grip Waxing Waxless Skis. Clarification sought

Just a word of caution @bmholt_ I was out recently in -17C or in my world 2 F, I had to strip the polar of my skis to get them to slide. They were still slow, but it usually isn’t that cold where I live, so I don’t glide wax my skis. It was also 6”-8” of fresh cold powder.

Re: Åsnes NOSI 76 Ski Review

Hey lilcliffy Hi Gareth, I went back to trying to ski regularly at the ski hill last year. For me regularly is 2-4 hours a week. However, regularly is working, and if skiing on God’s snow is available, it’s likely God’s snow wins if time is limited. When I went back I purchased a “mostly” piste orie...
