Re: OMG! Another "help me pick my ski" thread

Remember, you need these skis to fit in the tracks if you want to look semi-cool in those expert/intermediate trails. No one will enjoy you if your skis plough right trough em. It's also worth noting that here in the Teton Valley, and also in nearby Jackson Hole, we are blessed with a large variety...

Re: OMG! Another "help me pick my ski" thread

What about the S bound 98? Or the more expensive Objective? Those are wider and more turn oriented that this mission. I figure the ski will get 75% of its time on a fast surface (groomed or established track). bgregoire, I bought these boots because they fit my feet, which is hard to do (long and l...

Re: OMG! Another "help me pick my ski" thread

thinking out loud.......... Madshus Eon : 83-62-70 "more camber" (bad) but reported to turn easily Rossy BC-80: 80-60-70 tip rocker? (good) Alpina Discovery 80 : the fact that Alpina's own website does not give the specs on these skis is not a good sign. IMO the ski descriptions provided (by all ski...

Re: Excursion 88 to Ingstad

Heh, I just posted a kind of similar inquiry. IMO camber is important, you want a lower camber ski, single camber. And also on the flexible side as far as x-c skis go. Camber and stiffness are the big reasons why the fischer boundless skied so much better than the next step down in their line (at th...

Re: the Nordic Skating Thread

I have to applaud an undertaking even more absurd than telemark skiing.....telemark skating! Now I want to try it....but Utah is too warm. I've skated on Utah lake. I'm sure there's lot of frozen lakes in Utah but the trick is getting to them after the ice is thick enough but before the snow covers...

OMG! Another "help me pick my ski" thread

So I need to pick a ski for my Salomon prolink boots. They are compatible with NNN-BC bindings. I know this because I skied them today on my wife's Rossy BC-90's (from back before they had the 80's). Which actually was a pretty good combo, though I'm battling 200 pounds and my wife's skis are 179's....

It Ain't Ice Unless You Can See Fish

It's that time of year when the temps are low and the skies are sunny (out West anyway). That means it's time for skating the lakes. Right now, it's going off the hook in the west, from the Sierra to Montana. And, as always , in those locales that approach the arctic circle (Alaska, Finland, etc) Wh...

Re: Rossi BC skis- why all the negativity?

Interesting question. The BC-125 is/was a relatively cheap ski with a relatively bad reputation. But I had a friend who loved the BC-125, and got in more backcountry days than anyone (i.e. everyday). I had bc-125's mounted for 2-buckle plastic and found it so-so, but when I changed it to a three pin...

Indeed. Here's another shot of the intrepid videographer/director/film editor....etc etc. A big thank you to Tom for taking me here. That's Two Ocean Peak in the background right.
