Re: Teton Conditions

Actually I've been pleasantly surprised to not have too much contact with them, but that's why I want to go midweek. I think there are only 2 or 3 places to reliably park...at the pass and down by the scout (?) camp. The nearby slopes just north of the pass is what I would check out first.

Re: Powder touring ski options

A bit late to this thread but...having skied Tahoe for decades perhaps I can contribute. If you're skiing more than a few inches of fresh, a wider ski will help you go faster, not slower, due to less sink. If the snow is firm (spring conditions) with an inch or two on fresh, you don't need any float...

Re: Teton Conditions

Tom M: Palisades Reservoir is a bit far and the terrain seems very similar to much of the Tetons: steep wooded valleys with long ascents to more moderate terrain. I am certain there are some great spots to tour in the Big Holes (between Victor and Swan)...the trick (for me) being to find where there...

Teton Conditions

Yo maggots. Oops, wrong forum. Hey anybody else here in the Teton Valley or thereabouts and looking to do some touring for turns? It seems the Tetons are chock full of peeps dropping the big lines, and chock full of peeps cruising the groomed track.....and what I like best is kinda inbetween the two...

It's paradise I tell you

I had a real sweet tour yesterday on the ridges east of Lake Tahoe. Skimming some of the web blab, you'd think the west was all about skinning the steeps. And much of it is. But, man, I mean, man, you cannot beat Tahoe for low angle fishscale touring. Yesterday we had a few inches of soft snow (i.e ...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

I have had problems posting pics in the right orientation because some programs read code adjusting the orientation and others don't. A solution that has worked for is, after downloading the pic to your computer, rotate it through the compass (eg 4 times) and that removes the code.
