Re: NTN/Alpine with inserts

Older Dynafits (which are the "best alpine bindings" IMO) share some BF inserts with my steel-plate-sitting black Freerides (actually three of them - yes I add 7th screw to the front of steel NTN plate just because the insert is already there - round file on plate helps with frame clearance). Other ...

Re: The truth about NTN: My take on it...

For me, silicone spray in the morning gets rid of icing AND squeeing problems. For really "bad" days I carry it with me and spray 2nd time after lunch. Will try adding some slick tape under flex plates. NTN brakes are sub-par (they do not extend sideways, also they make binding entering somewhat har...

Re: Sock Science

Mountaineering/trekking Darn Tough VT socks are really, really good. Highly recommended.
They only compare to Lasting in my book, and they win, in general.

Probably will use longer mountaineering ones for skiing this season and will report.

Re: Check this new binding?

The only cool & fresh thing about this binding is that independent release spring in the false heel hook. Mating TLT toe with that kind of boots seemed like no-brainer. Touring lock location is stoopid(tm). They'd better put it somewhere else to facilitate on-the-fly mode change... I can surely tole...

Re: Any tele-TST skiers out there?

I'm skiing TST in 192cm and I find them really reassuring at times, but they do want to go fast and to be controlled precisely (or else they'll take ya for a ride). Touring performance is good. For pow, consider Norwalks also. Skiing lazy telemark I've found them real quick edge-to-edge (for 103mm w...

Re: FrankenTele???

Okay, I'll now admit that to ski cut up double black diamonds in horrible conditions (ice between irregular bumps of various toughness) carelessly I'd probably like to lock the heel. Especially at the end of the day. So maybe for next season I'll cut some 10mm risers and will install some more BF in...

Yep, dat's true, also see lazy telemark - I hope that humble scribbling might still help.

source?

Last I heard, Bishop depended on duckbill to break the bellows, so You could stick NTN boot in there, but activity would be zero (no duckbill resistance => boot just kinda pivots)...
