Re: Fischer steel light wax ski 47-44-46

I kind of question how much mountaineering you can do in those boots, especially since they don't fit crampons and have next to no insulation! Really curious how these superlight 65mm waist skis do on real conditions as well. Those videos seemed to show them skiing down green to blue groomers. They...

Re: Fischer steel light wax ski 47-44-46

There's an uphill only race at the beginning of this, but it's followed by an up/down race that really shows the ridiculous speed of these guys. They're definitely compromising on the downhills, but if you lose 1 minute on the descent to someone on 1 lb heavier gear, you're probably going to gain mo...

The lightest possible skimo setup you can get(skis/boots/bindings) is about 5.5 lbs.

Re: Fischer steel light wax ski 47-44-46

Top of the line skimo race boots are already 400+ grams lighter than nnnbc boots with cuffs. http://www.ubc-voc.com/2015/06/11/going-light-but-sticking-with-tele http://skimo.co/scarpa-alien-3.0 Stupid light skimo race boots. I'm sure carbon fiber has it's limits for forefoot flex, but I imagine you...

Re: Fischer steel light wax ski 47-44-46

So $700 for a brand new, in season, higher end nordic backcountry setup. AT setup similar in weight would run you twice that or more. Makes me wonder how light nordic backcountry would be if companies applied the same materials and design effort to nordic backcountry as they do to skimo. Extensive u...

Re: Fischer steel light wax ski 47-44-46

How much does a MR48 run? Just for comps sake, a NNN-BC boot is $250-300 new, and binding is $100. Skimo has to be double that, at least! About $300 shipped to the US from Sport Albert. https://www.sportalbert.de/struktur-2014-ausruestung-ski-langlaufski-back-country_SSA=xA0301017_l.dpage But again...

Re: Fischer steel light wax ski 47-44-46

Yep, skimo gear skates ok. It's about the weight of a Mountain Race 48 with nnn touring binding/combi boot setup. I've seen skimo guys claiming on the internet that the skis weigh the same as skate skis, but I'm pretty certain they're mistakenly basing those claims off of misinterpreting manufacture...
