Re: NIB Andrew Shoes Zenith 12.5 US, Alico Ski March 13 wide

The Ski March are very different IMO - much heavier and stiffer all around. More padding inside the lining of the boot. The Zenith are similar to Crispi Antarctic and Andrew Refugio, only slightly heavier with a little more stiffness & support in the back of the boot around the ankles. And the buckl...

NIB Andrew Shoes Zenith 12.5 US, Alico Ski March 13 wide

Two pairs of new in the box boots. Bought these a couple years ago and they've been in storage for back-up since then. I did apply some natural leather treatment. Andrew Shoes Zenith size 12.5 US which is 46.5. Turns out I take 47 in Andrew. New price is $350. Will sell for $280 including shipping i...

Re: Favorite places to XCd in Vermont? Taking trip next tues-thurs

Never heard of Northeast Slopes before - very cool! Will have to check it out. I love T-bars. T-cat yes, to ski the Notch you drive up 108 through the Stowe resort and Route 108 terminates in a parking lot at the closed gate. A stone's throw from the Stowe parking lots. 108 continues up the Notch an...

Re: Skins and wax help!

you're wondering if leftover glide wax will interfere with applying polar or green?? Maybe...they'll probably just blend together. I would get something to clean the bases - either a ski base cleaner or just a bottle of "goo-gone" or other citrus cleaner. With rags from an old T-shirt these will tak...

Re: Favorite places to XCd in Vermont? Taking trip next tues-thurs

sounds fun, everywhere from Bolton north just got a 3-foot dump. Not sure what conditions are like after that rain moved through last night. It looks like there could be some fresh snow by the time you get up there. Skiing up Smuggler's Notch from the Stowe side (the closed road) is one of my favori...

Re: Hot waxing with polar?

sorry, yes I do what those guys said - I will hot wax & scrape the full length of the ski. Then crayon & cork a thicker layer of the kick wax du jour onto the kick zone. I was using masking tape to hot-wax and scrape the tips & tails with glide wax, then hot-waxing base binder into the kick zone, th...

Re: Front-Half Skins

yup, the NATO skins still have the old metal clip. On the Combat NATO white skis Asnes mills out the area under the metal toe of the skin to make it more flush with the base too - this could be done to other skis. In fact I've wondered why this isn't done to all Asnes skis. It's probably worth buyin...

Re: advice on ski selection and other things

kick-waxing is your personal preference - some people want a stronger kick, others want more glide. I usually like a grippier kick and find myself using softer waxes as well. It's all good until the snow starts sticking, then you'll wish you had colder wax. But rubbing blue over the warmer wax usual...

Re: Johnny, Pierre, and the beast. Or the new Telemark Tech Norm (TTN) vs the future of XCD (NTN-BC)

this is some impressive innovation! Cool ideas. I wonder about the durability of the side-mounted pins on that rubber tip of the sole - the NNNBC or 75mm soles in the pictures - thinking the tips of the sole would have to be made with stronger material to hold the pin bearings over time. I'm heavy-t...
