Re: Ski Movies

Bill Koch definitely inspired me in childhood! I'm sure he was a hero role model for many people that are nordic skiing today. today I mention his name and most people have no idea what I'm taking about

Re: Emerging from the lurk

thanks for posting the story! Sounds like you're living the dream to me, in Edward Abbey territory, must be awesome! Would love to see some pics of your local adventures. Here in New England we have a lot of hiking and peakbagging enthusiasts, in fact, many of the alpine peaks we have are visited mo...

Re: Alico Ski March Boot

OK, you've gone off the deep end now!  cutting up plastic parts - you've become a cobbler! this reminds me of the early snowboarding days - 80s - where people used Sorel pack boots and most companies didn't make snowboard boots. I remember cutting up a recycling bin into various shi...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

yes, NNNBC soles are all the same - I find this makes it difficult to get the boots to fit my extra-wide toebox, welted leather 75mm boots are easier to stretch. I can verify that the Alpina 1600 definitely changed around 5 years ago - and it was an upgrade. The leather on the first version seemed s...

Re: Åsnes Nansen Waxless

thanks for the Nansen review - good to know these are popular skis in Norway. BTW I am watching the "FIS Ski Tour 2020" race event on TV that runs from Sweden to Trondheim. These Asnes waxless patterns are different from what we've seen over the years - shorter length of pattern and less grip than e...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC

good job, I believe Neptune is still the only place in the USA selling the Asnes mohair skins. A couple years ago, Neptune said they could order anything from Asnes for me over the off-season and I could get it in the fall, don't know if they still do that, would be another option if you're not in a...

Re: Tried an Old Trick for the First Time and...

I love reading these wax stories, thanks, I love wax but after one particularly bad day with Swix red/silver I came home and violently threw the remaining tins into the trash can! It seems like when you get enough red on there for some traction your glide goes to zero. you must need a PhD in waxing ...
