Re: Unapologetic love note to the Fischer E99 (now Transnordic 66)

Thanks for all the responses. Still a little concerned about the fishscale base and soft flex being slow, but have been wanting e99s for years, and also wanted a "grab and go set" for marginal waxing conditions. All I need now is some snow. Termination dust in the mountains,so it won't be long! Whe...

Re: Unapologetic love note to the Fischer E99 (now Transnordic 66)

Riel, Bases say 750 crown tech and mountain crown. Don't think they are a recessed fishscale. Either way,I have wanted e99s for over 30 years and found these at a yard sale for $30. I am sure I will get my money's worth out of them. Ohhh, those are nice. I have similar ones in 205 length, red edelw...

Re: Unapologetic love note to the Fischer E99 (now Transnordic 66)

Thanks Stephen. Trying this again. Hoping someone might have an idea what generation these are. Those BCX look like the generation that came right before the Xtralite skis, which were the last skis without nordic rocker. However, artwork varies enormously, and it may be better to look at the fishsc...

Re: LilCliffy's Nordic Backcountry Touring Waxing

A wax that grips twice as hard only needs to be used on half the ski for it to have the same total grip. And if the “half ski” is around the pocket, you can turn that on or off any time you want with weighting. Basic ski control. That depends in part on how bumpy the trail is. When skiing on a bump...

Re: Skis without metal edges recomendations

"not as good as fischer" is underselling it. I am finally in the acceptance stage of my WL ingstads. I first thought "this isn't as bad as people say" then "stupid *#&#$* skis herringbonning up every gd slope" to "maybe these actually are good for a very particular kind of tour" to "man, this sucks...

Re: NNN BC - faith somewhat shaken

which raises the possibility of a modification to the NNN BC format to reflect military usage. A beefed-up, military-grade BC binding is, of course, pure speculation on my part, but it does seem to be a not unreasonable expectation. Plastics are already widely used in firearms manufacture, albeit v...

Re: Terminology: The "Lambda" Tele' Turn

I look at the Lambda as a stepping stone to tele' same as the snowplow/wedge is to parallel in alpine, and both are a way to respectively control speed where side-slipping and or "hockey stops" aren't as well suited. Your comments? It depends on what kind of ski you are using. If the skis you are o...

Re: Mounting Xplore on Voile Objective

People in general seem to like their Voile skis boot center on the Voile mark. I think I would strongly consider that point. I mark my skis in pencil as I consider mounting points. I would consider pins on balance point, but the majority of skiers I respect seem to prefer the boot center on line mo...

Re: New skis for Finnish Defence Forces

That sounds like it could be a significant change from traditional forest skis.

I wonder if those skis will be available for sale to the general public. Could be a good thing for times where we need a little extra flotation, but still want efficient glide.

Re: Madshus, Rossignol or maybe something else? New to XC

- I want to go for a long trips on more less flat surface. Probably pull sledge with my kid behind. - Try to ride some small slopes. Try some free ride, but not on very steep slopes. After lots of research I’ve found two models: Madshus Panorama M78 and Rossignol BC 120. I’m also thinking about Rot...
