Re: torsional stiffness vs longitudinal stiffness

Both torsional and longitudinal stiffness are key factors in a ski's performance. The balance of the two, along with camber, result in most of the ski's personality. Different degrees of the three will vary, depending on the intended result. Camber is related to longitudinal stiffness, but is also a...

Re: Rossignol Telemark Skis for an Old Newbie

I've got a little different perspective on this. Being new to tele, wanting to try it out, and given the Dirty Birds... I'm thinking that to answer your question, yes, these should be pretty OK for you. Never skied 'em myself, but I remember that Rossi series of tele skis well, and mounted/sold a bu...

Re: The reason for the tele turn?

If I remember correctly, the telemark turn was originally developed by Sondre Norheim, a Norwegian ski jumper, as a more stable way the land form the BIG Air on LONG skis. With a very free heel. This was in the town of Telemark, hence the name. It caught on as a technique among recreational skiers i...

Re: A Real Wood Heat Thread (No Robots Allowed)

Primary heat for my present abode in Vermont; an old Vermont Castings in the living room. The back up heat very seldom kicks in. Not my favorite stove, to be honest, but it works. A Vermont Stoveworks "Elm" was the sole heat for my cabin home in the Adirondacks for 20 years. Around here there's an a...

Re: WTB - Smiley plates

Not sure who currently has them in stock; Telemarkdown is another source, in addition to those listed. "Shipping" should not be an issue with these, they weigh next to nothing and can fit in an envelope. I'll also volunteer to have them shipped to me in VT. and then mail them to you.

Re: What happened to Baaahb?

A little unsettling that he's been missing, and obviously none of us have heard any news. He's been a regular for a long while.
Got me wondering about RobRox, too. I've always appreciated having both of 'em around.

Oops, nevermind.

Mentioning this because I seem to recall a few folks have been trying to track some down, and they're getting hard to find. 27.5 in an Excursion would be same shell as a 27. They're over in a swap board on the earn your turns backcountry forums.

Edited because they're listed here!

Re: Is Outdoor buddies in Sweden a legitnstore?

Don't know about that particular vendor, but I've ordered stuff from Norway or Sweden with lower shipping cost, and faster delivery, than some U.S, companies.
