Re: New BCXC considering Fischer Traverse 78 / S 88 / S 98

The S-112 is not what I would choose to break trail with. While the Nordic rocker is good downhill, it is not a good trail breaking ski. The original poster will totally crush the camber on the 98, while being less wide than the 112 it probably will be more pleasant on the trail for 190 lb man. I w...

Re: Voile Objectives sold dirt cheap

Go to the "About us" page, and paste the address into Google maps. It's a modest house in a residential neighborhood in Michigan. Compare with the tracking information on the "Shipping policy" page, which has a Chinese tracking info page. The product photos? Taken with so many different backgrounds,...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding system

Outside of cost does this system end the 3pin/NNN BC reliability debate? Only if it actually ends up being more reliable! I am hoping that when the testers take this binding into spring conditions, we will know what happens when water gets into the pin holes. Or maybe someone could test this on pur...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding system

I have a few comments on this design. Lets start with the positive. Having a wider attachment of the boot to the ski could result in better lateral control of the ski, but only if the boot sole is torsionally stiff enough. The basic binding design looks promising, though. However, having the pins in...

Re: MR48- what is it really like on a groomed track?

I have the MR48 SKIN version in 210cm and the camber is lower and softer than my e99 Xtralite 200cm. In fact, this ski in its skin version is not working for me at all. I weight 165 pounds and in groomed tracks I easily squash the camber. The skins witch are sticking out 1/2 mm of the base are alwa...

Re: Beginner XCD ski choice

By the way, riel - what is your weight and what size Alpinas are you using? I weigh 210lbs, and use the 188 length, because that is the longest they made in the 2018 year model, with the white top sheet near the tips. The current model goes up to 208 I believe, and may have a different flex than th...

Those look like some old, old inbound crown skis, sidecut 68-60-64, a traction pattern that predates offscale crown, and I cannot tell from the pictures whether they even have metal edges.

In other words, they don't look too closely related to what are called S-Bound skis today.

Re: Beginner questions and ski advice (Asnes Sondre)

BTW, the eBay Sondres pre-date the Asnes X-Skin system. Of the two pairs I have, one had so little pattern on the base (I asked the seller for the skis with the least amount of pattern) that I could just fill it in with Swix Polar wax, and put kick wax on top of that. The other pair has so much patt...

Re: Beginner XCD ski choice

I absolutely love my Alpina Discovery 80 skis. They feel a little softer than Fischer skis, but the fishscales work just as well, and they glide better. People with Alpina Discovery 68 skis have reported the same thing. Being a little softer makes them easier to control and turn in soft snow, and th...

Re: Beginner questions and ski advice (Asnes Sondre)

I have some of those Asnes Sondre skis, as well. In lengths 210 and 200, because I'm big. These are a different generation than the current Sondre skis, with sidecut like the Amundsen skis, and presumably a slightly softer flex. They are fantastic skis for when the snow is relatively firm, or when t...
