Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC

Another question... Right now I am skiing the Ingstad in a 195cm exclusively as a downhill ski at the local hill in frozen granular conditions. So far, so good. I would not go any longer for turns at my dimensions (6'2", 160lbs). This is very cool man! With your Alaskas?! However, they seem short f...

Re: Åsnes Gamme

I have been flexing the Gamme's 8 different ways to Sunday in a most unscientific and unsound fashion and I can definitively say, almost, that the Gamme's are springier, less mushy, and stiffer than my 205cm E99 ExtraLites. Same as mine- my Gammes are definitley stiffer, and more resistant over the...

I wonder if you would find the Nansen better than the Ingstad in the same areas that you find the Combat Nato better than the Ingstad.
Thanks for the review.
By all reports, the Nansen does not perform well as a XC ski in deep soft snow.

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC

Digesting this with my own thoughts. A few questions: 1. Did you detune your edges? I aggressively detuned the edges from the a few cm's aft of the compressed contact point forward. Multiple swipes with a file, finished with a gummy. I kept the edges from compressed contact point back untouched. Mu...

Happy Nordic-Touring New Year 2019!

From the cold hills of Central New Brunswick Canada-

I wish you all a very Happy Nordic-Touring New Year!

Re: The Åsnes Thread (News for 2018-2019!)

I am in the process of writing a review of the Gamme 54 BC. I have yet to really test the Falketind 62. We have loads of snow and stable conditions coming- starting tomorrow- I plan on putting the FT62 through its paces shortly! ................... If I had to pick just one ski at this point in my l...

XC-skiing in breakable crust?

I think I have finally decided that Nordic rocker is a handicap when XC-skiing in breakable crust... My wimpy-tipped skis (e.g. Eon/Epoch/Annum/E109/E99) are absolutely useless in breakable crust. My new Ingstad BC is better, but still a bit miserable in breakable crust. The Nordic rocker causes the...

If you could only have one ski for your most typical skiing...

What ski would you choose if you could only have one ski for your typical, every day or most common skiing? If you decide- please describe the specific skiing context. I must pick two different contexts- and therefore two different skis: 1) Distance touring in hilly to steep terrain- variable snow- ...

Re: Review: Altai KOM 174cm

Cool.
I love my Koms too- and would have bought the 174cm if I had bought them new...

Which length would you have if you only had one?

I wish I had the time to enjoy my Koms more- I need to drive a bit to get to hills/mountains big enough to really suit them...

Re: Boot Review: 2018 Crispi Svartisen BC

Some success today. Thicker insole and double socks: 1) Slim, tight-fitting wool sock. 2) Thick tight-fitting wool hiking sock on top. Still a bit of heel lift- but no blisters!!! I have realized that the problem a major problem for me with this boot is that there is no shape/contouring to the heel ...
