Mont Alta, January 11th 2017
The far north did not resist the recent rain falls. It rained mostly everywhere in the north east but it didn't stop us to hit the slopes of Mont Alta in Val David, Qc. If you happen to stop by anywhere near in the future, drop me a line I'll show you what the region has to offer!

No more lifts. There was a fire 3 years ago that destroyed pretty much everything. For 44$ canadian for the season you get access to the whole mountain with a heated cabin, a large parking, and 30+ trails.
Re: Mont Alta, January 11th 2017
That place is the coolest.
Would never work down here. Not enough snow.

Would you svp help point out the movie stars in Votre Film ?
The TeleDiety has a style that reminds me a lot of Love, Johnny, except the star of your film as no beard and does not sport the derby style chapeau that Monsieur Love has favored this season. But the style - it is like Johnny with a huge upper / lower body counter rotation. Beautiful. Also, the gear the skier is on, it looks like much heavier gear than his favorite XCD things. So I'm not sure.
The other movie star, his tele is broken, sadly! Haha, I jest in good fun. I wish I could ski with you guys.

no kidding, I'm starting to realize how great Quebec is for skiing. The larger mountains are down here but it seems like there are infinite options for BC and of course more consistent snow. It looks like there are way more BC skiers in Quebec, enough to sustain a bunch of parks and clubs for 100% earn-your-turns.
Everything in New England focuses on getting lifts running so people will buy real estate. I guess there isn't much real estate at Mad River or Magic. But for a place like Saddleback, the real estate owners want the lifts running. No one is going to step forward and propose turning Saddleback into a backcountry ski club. It's too far from the big cities.
the only similar thing I can think of in New England is the RASTA group in VT.

Pretty soon this group will have the run of Teleman and his boys. They'll be competing with skins, tech toes and spandex.

Mike, thanks for the tip, looks like Mt. Hor would be a phenomenal place to ski. So RASTA and NEKBC are both chapters of the Catamount trail association, that's very cool that they support this type of group:

We currently are working on the following backcountry ski projects:
Mt. Hor in Willoughby State Forest
Thompson Property on the Kirby Ridge Road
Norman Property in East Haven, VT

I'm not sure we have more options than you guys! We have a lot of small ski hill in the Laurentians but the more interesting option are in the Gaspésie in my humble opinion. I have been there only once and it is pretty far from here.Cannatonic wrote:I'm starting to realize how great Quebec is for skiing. This maps shows you all the available option in Québec (legal one). Of course, Hoth, Coruscant, RX-1, RX-2 and all the other places where Johnny is skiing are not included

Pat, the other movie star has been on telemark for more than 25 years. He stills tele but bought an AT setup this year
