When I was younger and learning how to tele I had NNN bindings on a skinny rossi ski. I was a novice then skiing mellow slopes. If I was hammering down the vortex at "little mt" nowadays on that same eqip it would be in pieces. Love my voile 3 pin with optional cable bindings. Don't think I have ever broke one and I thrash em. Tele on

Ok.. What's very interesting about this vid is that it's on side of silly-lite for pins..He needs to be on a leather or a very lite plastic boot tho! Contrasting it with your vid , I do see a difference in spread at times, but really not that much..But seriously , I am interested in your technical take on NNN -- weight distribution, height of stance, distance between feet, all that sort of thing that goes into being able to ski your preferred gear..

While I currently do not have the ability to ski this on NNN, I would love to be able to for the sake of a new skillset I suppose..On the otherhand, I can ski these places on 3pc and lite plastics though I generally don't ski such THAT fast..

I wonder if you put up your own video.
In addition, the video seems to be way off to the typicality of XCD of your definition.
The guy on the video is on short alpine carving skis. If you insist that the video shows real XCD also, there will be no room to discuss with you any longer.

Anyway, as I expected, sturdy high-cut boots hinder smooth fast movement of turns.
On the contrary to your expectations, this video is just showing the limitations of sturdy gears.
Even if you're the best XCD skier in the US, you're not free from those limitations.

The real point of that vid I posted is how well he's skiing on the very lightest of pins with no cables at all..He could be skiing that whole setup on that snow with sturdy leathers.. ..He could be skiing on Glittertinds ..He's controlling a big ski with a feather of a binding..
BTW, I don't think SB's Cross country Downhill has THAT much in common with the Japanese XCD..Parts of the book he seems to have eventually disavowed and many of the techniques illustrated show long, spread-out techniques..
