Second guessing bindings
Re: Second guessing bindings
I'm gonna stay light. Riser? Maybe.
I found this cool site poking around. I wish they had more hills:

The hills of western NY are more like Okemo I would imagine. I've never been to Okemo, but the pitch seems similar. They seem plenty steep when we get some eastern hardpack!

Re: Second guessing bindings
I don't see a huge improvement on performance with risers on leathers. But I do use them on all my resort-leather skis, just to prevent bindings from hitting the snow on steeper runs...

First ski today:
Conditions weren't ideal and it was 16°F so I was basically skiing on rutty ice with a bit of fluff on top. Some spots there were rocks, roots or leaves. Added a few more scratches to the bases but I guess it's better than having a perfect ski sitting in the mud room. That's what you have to deal with when you're forced to sit at a desk while the sun is out
I stuck to the bunny trail - conditions made it more like intermediate. Flat, high ground but there was still some partially frozen mud pits here and there. Took the Glittertinds. Glide was nice where there was at least an inch of powder over the ice. Any hill was windswept and almost down to the dirt or grass. I tried to eek out a turn or two but the skis refused, so I gave up and went back to kick and glide mode. No tracks other than mine and a bike.
I suppose a golf course would be better skiing with this little snow but I enjoyed the seclusion of the trees better.
Buffalo is absolutely pounded. 5' with 2 more on the way. Too bad they don't have any place to ski to speak of. We may get an inch or two more by Friday so I'm hoping #2 will be Friday morning. Weekend is supposed to warm and rain.
A buddy of mine who is a big skier says he likes Okemo. Doesn't seem to be big, bad or steep... but that's fine with me. Gore is really my hill of choice if I am going to go to a resort.

Oh FWIW as far as the mounting locations marked on the Annums, for my boot size they are exactly +2 cm from chord center. Seems like that's a good spot
