How's the ROM in the Scott Excursion

Post by Spiny Norman » Sat Feb 27, 2021 9:57 am

MAny years ago I had a pair of Scarpa T4s. I was pretty disappointed with the range of motion in them. The Liner really resisted any rearward bend and the tongue was oddly biting on the forward stride.

Is the Excursion any better?

Will be scooting around Greater Central NH.

Thanks

I agree with Bgreg; while I've skied (and ski) T2's and T1's for a couple decades, when I tried the T4's, the flex was awkward for me, and the cuff was definitely uncomfortable with any forward lean. So, I went with Excursions for my general BC stuff... and also found them fine at the resort on some Wayback's. Very comfy, forgiving boot, and really warm. They're a high volume fit, my feet are low volume, so there's a lot of looseness for me, but I much prefer the comfort fit. An uncomfortable fit is just not acceptable for me. If I feel I want more response on the down, I just tighten 'em down snug, and ease up on the buckles on the bottom of the run.

I agree with the above posts. Only think to add is to mention that the plastic that the Excursions use is softer than the plastic used for the t4s so the Excursions flex in a more "natural" way

I tour pretty much exclusively in Excursions. They do not have a walk mode, so you increase range of motion by loosening the top buckle and power strap. I always leave the bottom buckle fastened. They are a pretty soft boot and even with the upper buckle fastened I get acceptable kick and glide for short flat stretches.

Be aware that the Scott Excursions are out of production. So get em while you can.
In Europe they're all but sold out.
Cheers

I mean DANG!.

This sounds exactly like the boots I want and need and they are no where to be found.

Next best option?

Thanks

Source?

I suspected the Excursion was no longer being made a couple seasons ago, but managed to find a pair. I was told they were still being made then, supply was just not great.

Excursions really are a niche in themselves, losing them would be a real blow to the community.
