ASNES Mountain 48 skin on Magnum BC bindings?
ASNES Mountain 48 skin on Magnum BC bindings?
Does anyone know if it's a problem mounting Magnum BC bindings on ASNES Mountain Race 48 skis? I know the Magnum BC is usually for wider skis.

Why would you want to?
Is it that you already have the binding and want to use it?
Or, would you be buying the binding new for that ski?
I can’t see any problem doing it, but wouldn’t do it if the NNN BC Manual was an equal option.
Maybe others might know of a limitation or problem, but all I can see is that you would have the wider plate hanging over the side, which in certain snow, might drag a little more.

Two options from where I'm ordering from BCX Auto or Magnum BC. I"m not the smallest skier so I was thinking the Magnum BC would be better. I've found the Alfa Guides as well as I don't want the typical NNN boots.

Ah, sounds like BCX is out of the NNN BC Manual binding.
I don’t think there is any real correlation between skier weight and the binding — going Magnum doesn’t get you anything relative to your weight. If you want the package from BCX, I guess go Magnum. If you can get the NNN BC Manual someplace else and mount yourself or have a shop do it.
Or, get the Auto, which I have no experience with, but which people generally seem to avoid for possible icing issues.
Also, you mean the Alfa Guard boots?
Those are nice - I have them.

It's not a problem... but it will overhang on the sides by quite a bit. All things considered--i'd still go magnum over auto given the choice. And it's not even about durability--the auto is just harder to use all around than the manuals. My wife and I swapped skis this past weekend and she was 1) mad because my 210 MR48s are so much faster than her fischers and 2) the manual binding is much more straight forward to use.

For me, other way around. Autos are so easy. I regularly use both magnums/manuals and autos. For where I live (dry snow) the auto is great. See my thread on auto from a few weeks ago. In situations where I get issues (overflow) manuals suck too.
That said, I have manuals on my 210 cm MR48 (wax), because my retro pair are narrower than any current model nnn bc.
I'd certainly go with the auto on MR48.

I ended up ordering the Manual Rottafella NNN BC bindings with the ASNES Mountain race 48 skin skis. Thanks again everyone for the helpful info. This Forum is awesome as usual.
