Re: Pocono Mountain Skiing
The trails are grass covered logging roads in the state game lands that border my house. The secret to skiing 3 inches of snow is wide skis and keeping them close to the fall line. We just got a dump of heavy windblown stuff that covered everything up and will make a good base.

Nice pics, Al and Mt Jaegermeister is looking good, too.
Good snow is where you find it. Looks like you made that most of it.

Re: Pocono Mountain Skiing
Hey Jude, we have about 6 to 8 inches of heavy stiff snow with a dusting of dry fluff on top, so not too bad. Looking at the weather forecast it should hang around until the end of the week when we are expecting more.

Still skiing after the big rain/wind event. The base is rock hard with enough fresh on top to make for decent touring. The cold temps made for a good day for Swix special green kickwax.

As of yesterday I’ve got in over 55 miles. Good fun.

Re: Pocono Mountain Skiing
The skiing is over here until we get more snow. I had a good run, skiing 15 days out of a possible 17 days with skiable snow. I covered over 83 miles and climbed almost 7000’. Most days were pretty good with one being great and only one that was too firm for fun. I finished on a high note on soft springlike conditions.
Re: Pocono Mountain Skiing
do you ever get up on top of Camelback mountain? they might hold a little more snow up there in Big Pocono park...and about 2/3's the way up the access road are at least 100 miles of game land trails....I created many public routes on Gaiagps...from 3 - 20 miles in length...I stopped keeping track after I had counted 100 miles of routes I created. back in these gamelands there are many trails and many, many intersections and zero trail signs. I ran them enough to learn the turns, but otherwise use the public routes I created .
just don't go to the place where I noted "Cliff"...because there is a cliff.

A treasure map, sweet! Is there a lot of public land in Pennsylvania?

Re: Pocono Mountain Skiing
Thanks for that info BB. I've skied the resort a few times but never hiked or skied in the bc there. I don't think they get more snow there, I'm skiing at around 2000'. That tower I skied to is 2265".
Wabene, there is a lot of public land in Pa. My house is inside of a 21000 acre game land that butts up to a state forest that is connected to other game lands.
