3 pin toe screw backing out.. again
My size and ability may be out witting the Koms... I just had them remounted but after 1.5 hours on some fluff covered ice it's backing out again...

Can't see anything about the screw from the pic; I wonder if it's loosening, or actually pulling out, which would be a little different story. Sounds like a three hole, flat mount just might not be enough for you. Where did you bring them for the re-mount? They'd probably re-re-mount the binding.

First, ID the screw. Many are Pozi (#3) and NOT Phillips.Shirefisher wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 9:36 amMy size and ability may be out witting the Koms... I just had them remounted but after 1.5 hours on some fluff covered ice it's backing out again...

With the correct driver, see if you can retorque it. If so, remove and use a thread locker like wood glue, insert screw, and with light pressure UNscrew (turn CCW) until you feel a drop of the threads aligning, note mark on driver and turn another 360 to verify, then screw in (CW). This will prevent cross-threading.
If stripped, go with inserts and follow directions. Do not just try more "glue".

Re: 3 pin toe screw backing out.. again
So just to be clear, the single front screw is coming out? Are you skiing Tele or Altai ( sitting in chair with Tiak ) style?
If you’re skiing Altai you are probably applying to much upward leverage on the front screw.

I do the Tiak thing, so yes I guess I'm putting too much tourque upwards on my down hill runs...
I wonder if an upgrade to a 3 pin with a riser would help.

Yea I think I'm too much for the flush mount. I may have to upgrade the binding or just cement them in till they break.phoenix wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 12:47 pmCan't see anything about the screw from the pic; I wonder if it's loosening, or actually pulling out, which would be a little different story. In all honesty these are kom 150's and I beat them down as my rock skis and today was no exception skiing hard ice with an inch of fluff skimming rocks, branches and mud, maybe a few sparks...

Sounds like a plan! If- Who am I kidding, when I upgrade to another bigger pair of Koms- all of these things need to happen. Inserts, and upgraded bindings with risers of sorts.TallGrass wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 1:34 pmFirst, ID the screw. Re: 3 pin toe screw backing out.. again
You kingdom boys are tough on gear. You're thinking in the right direction: you're a big guy on a wide ski skiing hard on three pins; you need a bomber mount. You could mount your 3 pins on a 4 hole, 10 (or20)mm Voile riser. That would be better than a flat mount, but it's still 3 screws on the pins, which could come out of the riser (beer that than the ski).
Ain't no shame in doing what you're doing with a cable binding with a straight 4 (or 6!) hole mount. Right springs, or right settings, and in my experience/opinion, tour fine, on decent trails or bush thrashing.

If you decide to keep skiing without remounting, a little steel wool and epoxy will allow you to turn that screw tight again.
Even if the thread is loose, it will tighten up with the steel wool filler.
