Re: Xplore binding mounting point for Epochs
Couldn’t the pin line on the ski be for NNNBC? As long as the mounting paper jig has a reference point doesn’t the binding get mounted in the right place?

Re: Xplore binding mounting point for Epochs
Thank all of you for the input. Although I have different NN75 boots they are all of different (sole) design not comparable to Xplore sole. Finally I´ve gone this way.
The pinline of the NN75 boot aligns with the tip of the boot (the tip not the duckbill). Aligning the NN75 boot tip with the Xplore boot tip one gets 15 to 20 mm of difference between the NN75 pinline and the Xplore pinline. Therefore to mount the Xplore binding at the same spot one needs to put the pins 15 to 20 mm backwards.
For the Epochs, the manufacturer´s recommended pinline for my boot size minus 18 mm ends up with BOF at CRS.
Some measurements:
Manufacturer´s recommended pinline to CC: -10 mm
CC to BP: average -17 mm
Manufacturer´s recommended pinline to Xplore pinline: -18 mm
CC to CRS: 80 mm

I understand how you got this result. But the pin on the Xplore boot or the NN75 boot is in both cases the location where rotational force is transmitted to the binding, and in the case of NN75 with plastic boots or XPlore with stiff soles, the place where most of the downwards force is transmitted from the skier to the binding of the rear ski in a tele turn.Roman wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 2:54 pmThank all of you for the input. So I'm not convinced that thinking this way is necessary.

I tend to think the same way, even if Wabene made a good point, regarding the position of ball of foot in regards to pin. There is also something else to consider; the lifting of the ski (in many techniques: skate, step turn, etc)... you do not want your ski to be tip heavy or tail heavy... Just some thoughts about that... So, pins on mfgr recommandation or on BP still seems pertinent...Roelant wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 12:55 amI understand how you got this result. Re: Xplore binding mounting point for Epochs
I wanted to mount the bindings from a downhill skiing perspective. That's why I didn't care too much about the support points and rotation of the binding. Anyway, I've already tried the ski and it's good. The ski is not heavy on the tip or tail when you lift your foot and even skating is fine. I can't imagine fitting the bindings as Rottefella recommends, ie pinline to BP. It would certainly make the tip of the ski stutter. I think the ski manufacturer's recommendation is better than the binding manufacturer's recommendation in this case. I seem to have chosen an even better mounting point (at least for me)Rodbelan wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 9:29 amI tend to think the same way, even if Wabene made a good point, regarding the position of ball of foot in regards to pin. Then all is good! There is noting like experimenting... Skis aren't pope's poo; you can redrill & remount them — many times actually... ask me why I know...Roman wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 2:21 pmI wanted to mount the bindings from a downhill skiing perspective.
