Skiing in Canada's Provincial Parks
Re: Skiing in Canada's Provincial Parks
I like your style oldschool - maybe I needs me a ski van.
Thanks for the link - I read the story and it looks interesting, but I didn't like that price

Dude, I'm telling you, it's a paradise here. If you know where to go. Here in the Eastern Townships, the Appalachian mountains are perfect for XCD. There's old logging roads and hunter's trails everywhere. Of course it's tight, but totally skiable, and the network of trails is endless. And there's always a nice park where you can start exploring.
And what about the Laurentians? Another XCD paradise. There's mountains everywhere. This is where it all started here. In the last century, long before the chairlifts, people would go there by train to ski, XCD style. There would be races from the top of Mt. Tremblant, including the world famous Québec Kandahar. According to history, the world's very first ski lift was invented here in Quebec, in the laurentians, long before Poma and Dopplemayr. Almost all ski resorts there had their trails designed (and tested!) by Jackrabbit himself. That was his favorite area to ski.
The XC trail network was unbelievable. There was a ski trail between every little town. You could spend weeks skiing Inn-to-Inn.
Be sure to visit the Charlevoix Area too. The mountains and the views are just amazing. Check out the Parc des Hautes Gorges and the Parc National des Grands Jardins. Not sure about the skiing over there, but it's worth the drive. I'm telling you, it's a XCD paradise here!

That really does look and sound great...
Maybe I was meant to be a Canadian - XC skiing from town to town in the winter, canoe tripping across vast wilderness in the summer... sounds so great.
