Asnes in stock at Telemark Pyrenees

Post by comradeporcupine » Thu Dec 08, 2022 7:54 pm

This is new, as far as I have noticed before: https://www.telemark-pyrenees.com/taxon ... asnes-4430

I don't recall TP stocking Asnes skis before, but they have the Rabb, Ingstad, Nansen, Cecile, and Amundsen. But not Falketind, not sure why.

TP has excellent service and shipping. Shipping to here in Ontario takes them 2-3 days. And they'll mount the skis for you if you buy bindings at the same time.

It is important that you all go out and buy the Rabb stock from there so that I can't. :-)

Few years ago I bought some skis and bindings from this website (sbound 98s, voile traverse, i think, bindings).

I had stuck them in the cart, and I was just thinking on it, so they sat in the cart overnight. Check the next day, and they were like 50% cheaper. So I bought em and yeah, nothing weird happened, they never said there was a mistake, saved a ton of money, could not recreate it by sticking the same things in another cart, but I did not let that sit overnight to see if something would happen.

Try letting stuff sit in the cart overnight, see what happens.

Oh yeah, this was end of season April-ish.

Yeah really don't know what happened. If it was like a hidden sale, just to get people to buy up stock at the end of the year, or if they can actually see into customers' carts and someone somehow was like, I'll just lower the price on these items so they buy.

Cuz, I don't know if I would've bought without it, but after seeing the price drop so much and going wtf, I could not pass it up.

Will probably buy from them again at some point.

Are you sure it was a sale or was it maybe just that you adjusted your country information at checkout time? Reason I say this is that there's a huge reduction in cost when you switch the shipping destination from Europe to North America; Because Taxes (that they don't have to charge you)

Something else to try; find an old tooth, write down «Ulr» on it. Put it under your pillow at night... when you wake up, you should find a brand new pair of Asnes skis... I am glad to share my trick to you guys...

After buying a second set of skis and bindings from them this past week, here's what I think happened, though I cannot be sure.

I had put a package deal (skis + bindings) in the cart, but they weren't actually priced correctly (while still being cheaper than everywhere else), but it was fixed overnight.

I say that because this recent setup I bought was actually more expensive under their package deal listing than it was to just put the items in the cart separately.

Pay attention when you buy from them, it's been 3 years since I bought from them last and there was pricing "issues" both times. (I am very happy with them though and will probably buy from them again in the coming years)

Nice catch!

For any company that offers a "value", "jumbo", "economy", or other implication of saving money by buying in volume, do your math for your money.

I've found many 'value 12-pack' cheaper than ordering 12 singles", or "jumbo" 500-sheet rolls being 'cheaper' than 2 x 250-sheet roles, i.e. more-smaller sheets but less square-area and more expensive per unit (e.g. $ per in^2). When you buy regularly and or in scale, it adds up.

Similar "shrink-flation" is seen in food where half-gallons of ice cream became 1.75 then 1.5 quarts, and quick meals that used to take 5min in the microwave now take 4:30-4:15 (hmm...) and or <meat, >veg, that is, where an item's price hasn't increased 33-100% since 2020.

Eh, I strongly doubt any conspiracy. Just stuff hard coded that interacts strangely with sales and other algorithmic stuff. Telemark Pyrenees is a smallish operation that has always been immediately responsive to me when I've emailed. They are the kind of folks you can always just email or call and ask so I'll give them a break on the website hijinks.
