indoor training?
Has anyone tried skiing the indoor "mountain" at the American Dream mall in NJ? I grew up on Berkshire East, but am stuck down here for another couple months and want to start getting in shape for winter. Do you think there will be room enough to carve?
Re: indoor training?
Never tried it. Likely works out OK in the absence of a trip to the Southern Hemisphere. Gotta be cheaper if living in the local area.
Don’t want to start the thread drift too early… but if no one can respond directly to indoor skiing…
Elliptical trainers might help on keeping in shape. Certainly bikes do… tho not ski specific, different movements, muscle groups. Mostly aerobics and endurance. Awesome for legs, glutes, balance. Marginally useful for upper body… even trail riding, which is my deal in the off season.
@bauerb does a lot of XC trail running… impressive stuff by the looks of it. Perhaps he could comment on how this works/doesn’t work to prepare him for ski season?

Update: I shredded the American Dream! Couple suffers had banana peels on their skis. Think I might have pulled a hammy
Re: indoor training?
I race XC skiing and skimo in the winter. the rest of the year I do running races on trails, mostly Sky Racing in the Western US. so I start my running training in April-ish, and continue my race calendar through early October. by September I am roller skiing 1 day/week. by October roller-skiing has taken over my volume. I also will do some Muscular Endurance work ( plyometrics at a high volume of reps). I also do hill-bounding with poles.
