Xplore Roller skiing bindings broken
Re: Xplore Roller skiing bindings broken
Two failures in two days? Yikes! Glad you're getting new ones. Sounds like a design flaw.

I wonder what would make the plastic crack like that?
The metal socket should be taking all the force?
Cold, sideways pressure from the boot twisting sideways, ice buildup causing a wedge to pressure the plastic, …?
Good that it doesn’t compromise the core functionality of the binding (should not strand one in a remote location).

Honestly, no idea why this happened. There was no sign of cracking prior to this happening when I checked at home (been keeping an eye on the older generation XP bindings I have since I had wear on my most used pair). Maybe there was some slack in the construction to begin with. They have now added some wider metal around the pin, maybe to reduce the pressure off the nylon cover, when twisting in?Stephen wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 2:29 pmI wonder what would make the plastic crack like that?

Could have happened in transport (slightly doubtful about this, I am careful), or when stepping in. I was using NNNBC and my partner used these. She had some trouble stepping in but it was dark out, could have missed this. Only skied 5km to a cabin, where I noticed this - no step in/out during, no ice buildup.
