Re: Excursion Boot Modifications ?
BTW, I ski an 86mm underfoot Tindan with my T-4, the T-4 handles that ski, but I think for hard snow 86 mm underfoot is pushing the limit for me, especially on a light touring ski.

Howdy I’m running the Voile Transit and love the binding. I had Lynx and my friend has the Medjios. Too many problems with boot jack and snow clogging the bindings. The Lynx was dangerous in wet snow and was practically unskiable. It would clog with snow, I would have to stop unclog it, then clog again after several turns. When the snow got super wet the binding claw would then release from the boot when trying to do a turn and after that incident happened several times no matter what adjustments I made I told myself not worth getting hurt and removed the bindings. Most NTN bindings sit way too close to the ski which creates this problem in spring snow in the backcountry.Salto wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 7:17 pmJust back from an overnight hut trip with ultra vector x2 excision combo. Dreamy on the way up. 1500’ over three miles. Then hit a 500’ 25 degree slope on wind blown, hard pack, faceted, and breakable crust. Combo skied really well. No issues and so comfy. I am experienced and ski meidjo and evos on cool blaze at resort ( obviously could had taken but don’t like touring in evos).
Where I did have troubles was on the run out. With speed and tight turns on hard pack the excursion is just not enough boot to put vector on edge. Even trying to throw in a higher speed snow plow was not easy.
Anywzy, still a great combo and will look for some cheap t2. I do plan to upgrade to the new Tx.
voilenetd, what Ty’s binding? I like the Meidjo, but it’s finicky. My wife had a horrible time out on it this last trip.
Also, regarding original boot mod post. Switching out the liner to a taller stiffer liner has really broadened the range and comfort of these old boots.
