I’ve got Xplore on the MR48 skins (210’s) and NNNBC on the waxers (210’s). These skis are greasy fast on the track or hardpack. The skins have been great for those days where messing with wax is a pain- the waxers on a swix blue kinda day are effortless. I find myself leaning a little more towards the skins if I know I’m gonna be encountering rolling terrain (such as the local golf course). I don’t use them frequently due to the type of skiing I usually go for but its great to have them for days when getting away isn’t doable.

Well....
I'm about to find out.

I Love, love, LOVE the Gamme (green man).
I just bought the MR48 for the places I frequent that often have groomed a portion of the trail-system.
It's fun to just mindlessly lay down some miles in-track, once in a while.
Focused upon good, efficient technique, get into a rhythm, and go *fast*.
and also have the ability of jump out of the track, and play on some less-traveled trails.

if you get the perma-skin version, many have recommended an adjustable NNN/NIS.
to have some range of control over boot position for less/more grip.

@corlay I hope you really enjoy the MR. I don’t ski tracks very often. I mostly ski single track near home. When I travel, it isn’t to groomed XC areas.
I really like the Green Man.

I think Green Man is the most beloved Asnes ski there is, I treasure mine and have covered a lot of miles on them. If they made another run of them they’d sell out immediately.

@fisheater gamme is really faster than the mt51? That's surprising to me. @corlay please report back how the mr48 compares to gamme after some experiences, thanks.

I don’t track gps speed. Gamme has significantly more snap. Gamme is much more marked up on the bottoms given that I have the MT for thin conditions. I much prefer the Gamme

Re: Current or Recently Retired Waxable Metal Edge Skis
I have some Fischer Skin Race skis that have the adjustable binding, and Im SO VERY thankful they do! My skate skis have adjustable and I think Ive adjusted them once. When I got the skin skis, I was like 'so what, the bindings move'. However, the skin skis I adjust the binding position very frequently based on snow or terrain type. I think with a skin ski, that you can't quite tweak like you can with a wax pocket, an adjustable binding is mandatory(at least on the skinny racey skis).
I really want some of the waxable m48's, we'll see what norseman has to say vs my budget...

Re: Current or Recently Retired Waxable Metal Edge Skis
Wood core skis are variable. Different skis of the same model can come out differently, due to variations in the wood.
It is very possible that fisheater got a fast pair of Gammes, and a slower pair of MT51s.
I have both Gamme and MT51 as well, and have not noticed the Gamme being much faster. I don't think Strave has noticed much of a difference, either, but I may have to experiment...
The Gamme does feel snappier, but the extra stiffness underfoot can also make the Gamme harder to turn than the MT51 sometimes.
