Xplore and “b” - tele
Xplore and “b” - tele
Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but I want to see what people think about throwing tele turns on xplore setups. I’ll give my experiences and thoughts, I’d love to see if people agree or not.
I’m on xplore with pioneer pros and madshus panorama m68 skis. They’re a little too long for me without a pack on (195cm skis, I’m 5’9” 160lbs).
Regardless of flexor, I think it’s common knowledge that parallel turns work great on xplore - better than either nnnbc or 3-pin. This has been my experience too.
On the standard flexor, I tend to end up rolling up onto my toe and losing edge control with the back foot as I’m unable to properly weight it from that position.
On the hard flexor, it feels like a duckbill and I can actually drive that back ski fairly well, even on very firm snow.
I haven’t had a chance to try it out, but my hypothesis is that on the standard flexor, Telehiro’s “b-telemark” style might actually work much better, especially for rolling up and down tours where you don’t want to stop to swap flexors.
Can anyone speak to the effectiveness of b-tele on xplore with the standard flexor vs a more traditional stance?
