Fischer Travers CS limitations?

Hi all, first post.

Is it reasonable to I marry this boot to a pair of Fischer S-bounds 112 or Voile Objective BCs on Dynafit bindings that would be used both for backcountry as well as groomed/resort skiing? I'm trying not to have too many boots: already own a pair of Alpina Alaskas for my skinny skis.

I've read it's a very light boot, and imagine it's not suitable for hard-charging dowhill runs, but I'm 55 and, whilst competent, I'm not and have never been remotely aggressive in my skiing style, so if I could get away with just this boot, for the tooling around I do, it would be a win.

Why this boot? It's light, received good reviews, and there's one in my size for sale at 1/3 the new price in my neighborhood.

Hello Matt,
I don’t know much about AT boots, but technically I own two, an old F-1 and F-1 Race. These are the old bellowed AT boots. I use them to Telemark ski.
What I do know, is that the type of boot you are purchasing are light, and stiff. I don’t think you are going to be overpowering it.
Make sure it fits! That’s the most important thing. Skimo sells the boot, it can’t be junk. It certainly isn’t cheap at list price.

On your binding, I ski a Voile Transit TTS. It has a Plum tech toe, similar to Dynafit. I am impressed with how precise a tech toe binding skis. I think the boot and binding will easily overpower an S-112. The 112 is really a torsional noodle, a much better match for leather boots. I think the boot and binding would be a good match with the Objective

Fischer S112 has been described as soft and unable to hold an edge on hardpack, so sounds less suitable. Voile Objective BC is very light and sounds great for backcountry skiing and a nice match with Fischer Tracers CS for light and fast backcountry skiing.

It sounds less suitable for all-round skiing including lift served though. I believe Voile Endeavour would be a better match with medium weight boots like Fischer Transalp (<1.5 kg). Scales (Voile BC) sounds nice for flat approaches and low angle uphill, but less fun on piste. I would probably ski such gear steeper than scales would be of help, but I see people liking it and for the lightest gear on low angle skiing it sounds very nice. You have to decide what is most important to you.

The boot sounds good for touring but I think you'll have a hard time inbounds unless you are on well groomed, easy slopes.

And weigh less than 200lbs.

Another thing to consider is Dynafit style bindings are not the safest inbounds. Used Alpine(not AT gear) is cheap.
