I like the Obenauf’s products. Leather oil to restore old dried leathe and the Leather Preservative for waterproofing.

Ok will see what's stocked locally. Had planned to use snoseal but more research says there's adverse affects by several accounts on this page. Which is a bummer, because snoseal is what I have on hand. I do have the nikwax packets that come with kinco gloves as well, can anyone comment if there's really that much of a difference between nikwax and hydrobloc that I wouldn't use nikwax if I had it on hand? Hydrobloc seems to be a PITA to get a hold of in Canada

I believe Nikwax and Hydrobloc are chemically similar. Hydrobloc seems much thicker.
If you can find a Zamberlan boot dealer, you should be able to buy Hydrobloc.
I use Black Ovid in the States

Merrell XCD legend on Karhu XCD GT
All cleaned up, meltonian polish and the nikwax that came free with kinco gloves, pretty happy with this classic combo, will give em ski this weekend. This who setup cost about 75 dollars

Seems to me based on your posts you have access to a vast amount of used XCD gear in your area. You are a lucky man! All we have here in Minnesota is skinny skate and classic gear and alpine downhill gear. I felt so lucky to find one pair of Alpina BC boots in my size at a ski swap, but alas the plastic cuff disintegrated, lol.

I live in a pretty high population center near a bunch of national parks with a deep history of backcountry skiing. But it's like you said, people are really only into nordic classic and AT around here. So when the stuff pops up I'm the only one nerding out on it. Sometimes the stuff is even free

The boots look great!
Fwiw, I still use Red Biwell, but only because I bought a case of it on Ebay a few years ago.

Both work for leather gloves—one is water-based and easier to apply, while the other is wax-based and more durable. If the wax-based one is hard to find, the water-based one should still protect your gloves. Proper care also helps extend their life—check out this guide for tips on cleaning and maintenance.Lhartley wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 5:50 pmOk will see what's stocked locally.
