I have to add, I got some Fischer SBound 112s a couple years ago, and went with switchbacks. It was dicey though. Was thinking 3 pin or 3 pin cable maybe too. It’s turned out fine, but in free pivot mode I am limited to sketchy parallel turns. In locked mode, the kick and glide is pretty limited but workable. I didn’t end up going with the 3 pin as the extra flex resistance with plastic boots seems a bit tiring and tended to cause heel blisters with my new T4s.

I took these notes:

Pins (Voile 3pc traverse). Pros. Light, no mode changes, always stable in mixed terrain. Rarely would use the cables.
Cons. Flex resistance causes some inefficiency, discomfort, heel blisters for climbing or K&G.
Switchbacks. Pros. No resistance for climbing or K&G in free pivot mode, efficient and comfortable. Better downhill performance in locked mode.
Cons. Heavier. Mode switching needed, but works pretty quick. Unstable in free pivot mode in mixed terrain, e.g. short descents, step turns etc.
