Ben and Al, if you guys want to address thread drift, ask Johnny to make you mods. I'll gladly resign my position and you can manage that (move, delete, ban, whatever the fuck you want). Seen as how both of you contribute to drift on lots of other stuff and I've never said shit, nor cared, I'd like to see your sensitivities carried out in a fair manner. Good luck!

Oh man, sorry, last thing I'd want to do is mod a forum. Mad props to you for caring. I don't think you should move or delete anything that's put up on the threads I put up here though, or ban any drifter or drift-a-phobic for that manner. When I do put a thread up though, I somehow feel invested and expect some form of meaningful conversation on the topic, so when its heading for the ditch, I might pull a snarky comment, but its all in good spririts. I guess that's as much as a mod as I'd ever want to be.

Sorry Mike, I didn't want to piss you off I was just trying to bring some levity on a slow day. It never really pissed me off that you moved that thread, and my squirrel problem isn't as bad as I made out either.

You can't have it both ways. I wouldn't have taken your comments seriously if it hadn't been a thing before. I don't care about threads going off track unless it's devolving into bashing/fighting, in which case I might say something to help preserve it. I delete as little as possible here and I don't move anything unless it's asked (as was before) or it's really heinous.

I obviously put that video there for a reason as it relates to the name of the tele video. It wasn't meant to be snarky or sabotage, but adding a little humor with the stupidity of the name of the vid. Obviously I'd seen it before and it's been around for a long time.

If you feel really protective and sensitive about your threads, this is probably not the place for you. I suggest maintaining a blog. Forums are such that you'll get all sorts of random shit in your topics, maybe on, maybe off... and you guys, by having a bit of fun, actually drifted the topic off even worse, as usually happens. Again, I don't care, and I like the humor. If you want to keep threads clean and on topic, I expect the same from you in others. If you want to enforce, ask to be a mod, I'll put in a good word for you. I'm not going to enforce, and as you can see, I'll most likely contribute to it if it's harmless. It's been this way for quite some time.

In this digital age, one-dimensional keyboard talk never renders the original intention of what we say right, unless when we are discussing purely technical matters, and even then. Its getting obvious the wrong words are sometimes read between the lines I actually write. Lets please chill here.

There is so much shit going on on these telemark forums, and it seems it has always been so. I was quite surprised when i first started reading...and writing. At first it was curious, many times very funny to watch but mostly just a pain. I was surprised to see that current forums enemies were once even "pals", or at least civilized with each other...most of this must be due to digital ill-communication because its not cause we dont agree on everything about telemark that we can't talk and have fun?

Keeping an open mind though, I have found that the peeps on opposing ends of these squabbles have some really pertinent info and perspectives to share. they are ALL inspiring, I have learned tons from all sides.

So i'm writing this here now, cause even though this thread was intended as a vid thread, and even though i underlined my desire for it to be so...in the end, I really don't care enough about it to be bothered. So yeah, if I can't have my cake, we'll at least I can eat it! Would you like a piece? There is plenty to go around. Chocolate and vanilla.

It works both ways. People being dicks purposely or not can be misconstrued.

I used to be fairly civil with Teleman, but he's pushed the limit enough that I've resorted to just ignoring him altogether. I've pushed him back too, more than I should have most likely. Most of his angst towards me comes from other issues though, and I find it immensely humorous that he'll speak his mind to me about something like say, his NNN bias, and not to Johnny, who's thoughts are far more radical than mine. He's obviously testing my patience.

On the flip side, I didn't used to be very friendly or trusting of connyro. Things have changed over the past year or two though as I see more of people.

I've had my ups and downs with many people here, and I try to be fair and forgive. I've never had an issue with either of you two before and I don't expect I will in the future.

People like to play games, and most of that can go ignored. But the situation was that you were frustrated about thread drift/off-topic posts once before and I tried to rectify the situation to be helpful. I took note that the reverse was true, and that despite no one bitching, I wasn't going to play a favorite to anyone. This is exact reason I'm a bit peeved now and said something.

It's very rare that I will say something to one of you guys because I know you are legit and have been around here for a while.

Be cool and have fun, and don't let the OT stuff get to you, whether it's from me, or Teleman, or anyone. Just ignore it if you don't find the humor. If someone is being a real ass, send me a pm. If I'm being a real ass, send me a pm. I'm sure we can work it out.

bgregoire wrote: Now your talking! No wonder telemarking on light gear is not taken seriously by everyone. Very peculiar styles, wonky moves, mastery of unstable gear. Did you see the dudes technique on the steeps in the second vid?!!
I love these.
unstable? I thought those guys were ripping it up! yes, nothing wrong with the occasional butt-check of course.

The great irony of 99% of videos is that they only show the 2-minute downhill run, and not the 2-hour uphill. That's where leather & lace really excels! I noticed the Euro ski-mo race movies showed a lot of the uphill.

It's also funny to me that the videos I posted were from the late 80's early 90's timeframe - I think - when tele was something old that was being re-discovered. Now, we're viewing them again today, and once again it's rediscovery of old, abandoned ways. Backcountry gear morphed into heavy, stiff boots and bindings and once again we're back to a small cult of leather and 3-pin wackos. "Time Machine" could be filmed again at just about any big ski area. Just need to borrow a fedora from KTB!
