T4s, Annums, Hardwires on lift served
Re: T4s, Annums, Hardwires on lift served
I think everyone I know who teles has had this issue, myself included, during the learning process. My best advice is:
1. Just keep practicing.
2. Keep trying to point your chest down the fall line. (example: when turning left, turn at the hips so your torso is facing down the slop)
3. Start each turn with a good pole plant. This helped me a lot as it helps develop a rhythm to the turn.
If you're looking for an exercise, one I like is twisting lunges with a weight (plate or kettlebell of your chosen size). When you lunge, rotate your torso as you would in a tele turn. Example: lunge with right knee down, hold weight in front of your chest and rotate to your left.
That one has been the best tele-simulator for me. It does a good job working legs as well as all your core balance muscles.

I've been working on this too, left turns as well
Practicing monomarks with right foot forward helped a lot. Make sure you're on edges
Working on my poling helped a lot too. Keep it smooth and fluid, be gentle on the pole plant, come straight thru with your opposing hand. Keeps your upper body in sequence with your skis and lead changes

Has anyone mentioned the 'mono telemark' from Urmas' videos from the old site?
He's got several of his other videos on YouTube as well. His tips are quite helpful for sorting out executing smooth tele turns.

Lots of great info! I may rent some heavier telemark gear and practice this weekend.
