Re: Argh Can't decide which 75 mm binding for Vectors

Am I mistaken that the heel throw can be stowed under/behind a properly placed heel riser when not needed, and the rest of the binding operates as a simple three pin, closeable with one's pole? Others have said that as well.

It is a very functional binding but does look a little goofy and loses style points compared to the bulldog.

Hardwire can be stowed for maximum freedom of movement.

I am wishing I had recognized the virtues of the hardwire a decade ago, when I was doing multi day tours and the flexibility/redundancy would have been very welcome. Now, thinking realistically, I'm not going to be doing a shit ton of aggressive backcountry skiing, 30-35 degree slopes. Mostly more mellow touring, and ski the steeps at resort where the chair gives you a lift. : ) Some aggressive BC skiing, I hope, but not enough to dictate the binding decision. Bulldog it is. Mounting point for 11.5 boot? I'm thinking pinline about 1.25 inches in front of balance point (which some will consider too far forward.) Please don't make me start another thread about binding location!

Hey Baaab, which TBulldog do you have? Long cage or short cage? Touring mechanism? 3pin? Heel retainer?

voile has a chart with measurements for finding boot center on all their models, I'd go with that

it's pretty much the same as a lite dog. short cage, 3 pin, no heel tube no free pivot

I kid you not! That puts pin line 1.25 inches forward of the balance point with the Excursions, a bit more forward with the 3-buckle scarpa's. ULLR HAS SPOKEN!

Ok... coz the long cage ones aren't that good for meadow skipping and/or touring...But the Voile 3pin HW is more versatile. The bleue cartridge are somehow flimsy... Since you need to get new ones, get the black ones. That's what I did on mine. Much better.

Maybe it's too late but could not resists adding my opinion ;)

I don't have the Vector but the Objectives that I mounted with SB. I almost always use the ski setting as it offers more resistance than the touring setting. With the ski setting it feels like I can better transfer my energy to the ski for better "glide". Also I have the waxable version and with the ski setting, it is easier to apply weight to the ski so I can climb not too steep hill without skin.

I know nothing about the Bulldog ;)

I didn't mount mine myself and never checked the BP. They looked far forward to me but they ski great. They feel perfectly balanced especially after skiing the original vector.
