Re: Panorama M62: contradictory reviews...
The camber looks similar to all of our Eons- if anything the camber on our Eons might be a "tad" higher- especially on the pairs with less mileage on them.
Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

Ok thanks... I was referring to a friends Eon, with the last graphic design. His seem a bit lower; I'll have to check carefully (might just be an impression; I don't want to be part of the fake news trend...
As far as my Glittertind (1st gen red and green with flames), my version is lower and softer than the newer versions. Fact checked...

Here's one more photo for comparison: M62 185 cm vs. Glittertind 195 cm, which is much stiffer with double chamfer. I have not used M55 much yet, but it has really loose tip in comparison to my old Glittertind. I got 190 cm, which is likely too short given the nordic rocker I didn't expect beforehand.
I haven't been able to test M62 in deep soft snow yet. It's quite rare here close to the sea, and Lapland is still freaking cold and dark. I'd sink to the bottom with M62 there.

The M55 sounds and looks very similar to the current E99 Xtralite in terms of geometry and flex...kaukopaa wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 11:59 amHere's one more photo for comparison: M62 185 cm vs. Glittertind 195 cm, which is much stiffer with double chamfer. Re: Panorama M62: contradictory reviews...
Those japanese guys are rocking the Italian Crispi's with style! I'm looking to add to my quiver my widest ski yet to attempt my first tele turns and the skis I've found that are available are the Madshus Panorama M62 & 68 and for about $100 more the Åsnes Nansen and Ingstad. Kaukopaa, I appreciate what you've posted so far and from your picture it looks like at best the 62 has a strong single camber. Any thoughts on the 62 for NE Minnesota with rolling terrain and moderate first XCD attempts?
Re: Panorama M62: contradictory reviews...
Hi wabene, I do not have any experience on those Åsnes skis or NE Minnesota snow & terrain, so it's hard to say anything. One more detail I forgot to add earlier: M62 does not have a groove in the bottom, so it turns easier and tracks less. I plan to next to use M62 for some +30 km of rolling terrain with half-skins and a pulka. It's my choice because I expect that the Madshus Intelligrip Transition skins drag less than the Åsnes X-skins. Durability is likely worse.wabene wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 7:36 pmThose japanese guys are rocking the Italian Crispi's with style! Re: Panorama M62: contradictory reviews...
That was a nice video with some good skiing but like all of the light gear videos from Japan they're skiing good conditions. Old tele movies from the past, before plastic boots, show people busting through crust and skiing more extreme and variable terrain. Even with the good conditions in the video some faceplants were made.
So one of two things, when conditions get bad they either switch to heavier gear or wait for things to get better. Or maybe they don't post videos from crappy, humbling days.

Common Al! It is still good technique. I understand your point, but even Dickie Hall would wait in the spring to do his tutorial (to get the perfect corn).
You know that some will post videos of em skiing in perfect conditions, spidering around with a stiff front leg. Cf Youtube.
It is true that skinny skis will get us in trouble in less than perfect conditions...
I'll receive my M62 in a couple weeks (?) from now. I'll do my best to do a little vid...
