The end of Voile's 3p binding - RIP
Re: The end of Voile's 3p binding - RIP
My bails are all steel. I am positive because they rust where the hammer finish chips.
I wouldn't heat them at all. Mainly because they are hardened, I'm sure they are to some degree and you'll lose that if you heat them up and probably still crack them if you try to bend them too much. Secondly there are plastic washers in the pivot of the bail. You'll surely destroy those.
A shim over the pins on the bottom would work, and I had thought of that but you will lose pin engagement and have to fumble with it if you don't lock it down with the screws. If you lock it down with the screws you may not clamp the bottom plate well enough.
All this seems like a lot of fuss when you could just buy a binding that works with zero modifications...
Anyway it depends on the leathers too. My Asolos are thick enough and so are my Crispis.

Sometimes Shoo Goo forms a very strong bonding layer between relatively soft materials..So I would try a layer of Goo with a plastic or rubber shim on the duckbill..Allow to dry overnight or even 24hrs in a warm room ..
Nothing at risk here at all

Dongshow....Rotta super is the ticket....on anything....course you might need some decent skis....In the bush and cruising they win hands down and Ron puts up photo's that show that....Sorry Raven but Rotta super!!!! Won't speak for the rest but Teleking sure uses them as do most of the others....At ski areas they strap on the V3pc....But they are kinda wimpy to do it....TM

But Dongshow! It wouldn't be an internet forum without arguing
Seriously - I just don't want anyone to ruin their bindings. Sell them on eBay and buy the old style or the ST, there are plenty of boots the new Voile do work with.
Maybe Alpina will get with the times and start molding their boots with a thicker bill Other than the fitment issue I don't have any real complaints about my Voiles.

Re: The end of Voile's 3p binding - RIP
Of course Ron knows all.
Sorry BRO, those 1575s are garbage. Cramps, blisters, wet feet... you name it. 2175's aren't the same and neither are the bindings most likely. And 2175's aren't made anymore.
If you actually read anything anyone else wrote instead of ranting about how we are all idiots and you know it all you'd notice that you stated you don't 'think' you have any of the new style bindings which would mean all yours have the lower bail height.
The whole initial post and the thread before was about how Voile CHANGED the binding. It used to fit down to 13mm which is most likely what you have.
And I haven't measured but I've actually skied with the current BC boots from Alpina, including the 1575 and I'm pretty sure it has the the same bill thickness as an Alaska.
But by all means, continue living in your own private Idaho.

It's funny how you are telling me I am wrong about boots and bindings I own...
Please Ron, give it a rest.
