I think a more representative quote would be from some of your very aggressive private messages where you’re throwing around the real-world names of members, to be honest.

This is a thoughtful and sensible response, in my opinion.spopepro wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 11:23 amMy personal plea is for post/edit limits and more bi-lateral time outs. I don’t see the posts in question (unless someone quotes them, but those don’t tend to be discussions so I skim them) but it does make things difficult. A bad actor is currently able to simply wear people out with volume. Personal attacks take two to tango and to see one side punished is tacit endorsement of one point of view.

Let’s think this through…spopepro wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 11:23 amMy personal plea is for post/edit limits and more bi-lateral time outs. Post edit limits. Fair idea but you do realize that it removes the possibility of a few really useful and helpful things…
- Building on a detailed topic which wouldn’t otherwise be covered in any contiguous way;
- Allowing ppl to correct typos or auto word substitutions, which could cause a great deal of confusion with audiences operating in a second or third language
- Allowing modification of language to, you know, avoid setting off people who haven’t taken their morning handful of Zoloft
- Changing a position before anyone else posts so as not to inadvertently mislead.
Can include examples of these by links if you wish. But would need to edit the post. LOL.
Then again, you might have more experience in the education field. Take away pencils and only allow pens. See how much participation you get from students when they need to do error free calculus on the first pass… or aspiring authors who need to select the perfect prose or else bin the manuscript and start over (like monks of old).
Not saying you don’t have a point. You do. But issues that seem simple often aren’t. Like online dog piling, which you appear more or less happy to ignore.

Hell, even much of the stuff he posts here publicly.Musk Ox wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 11:44 amI think a more representative quote would be from some of your very aggressive private messages where you’re throwing around the real-world names of members, to be honest.
This quote of his is a prime example of what I was saying. He addresses me sarcastically implying that I compared him to these dictators, which I did not. What I in fact wrote was that he attributes statements and meanings to me which I did not make... that is, what he JUST FUCKING DID.

You need to stop interacting with this member, @mca80.mca80 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 11:58 amHell, even much of the stuff he posts here publicly.

@mca80: You were asked to provide a quote. You didn’t.
Again, you seem frustrated. Take a deep breath and re-read things. Don’t need to admit wrong or anything like that. Just learn what you can and move on.
Not the same as a directed personal insult. Like “asshole”, “retard”, etc. My imagination is pretty good but it’s hard to find another interpretation of these words.

Sarcasm… gentle ribbing.. humor. Same thing depending on how one chooses to take it.mca80 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 11:58 amThis quote of his is a prime example of what I was saying. Re: What happened?
Shitake. And I don't know what I am doing :p This is first harvest from logs I innoculated last fall (well, just part of today's harvest). Am hoping this is sufficient method for drying, but maybe I should do some research first. If I didn't have so much other stuff to do when not at a job on the computer I would be out looking for chicken of the woods, which is fairly common wherever there are oak around here. Another one I would like to dry for winter. I make lots of deer soups and stews, and stroganoff, so ample wild/home-cultivated mushrooms would be a good addition.
