+1 for Phils. That's all I have used on bike chains for 15 years.

Even after little use (like boots purchased late in the season), it would be best to give a good flush of the pins. Lubricate, cycle the crap out of them, wipe away, repeat. Like cleaning seal wipes on a mountain bike shock.

Not needed for a new boot. Just lubricate and use.

Spent a bit of time today looking for a WHMIS or SDS listing for Rottefella grease. Nothing found, which is unusual given that it is almost certainly a synthetic product sold and distributed in the EU. A WHMIS or SDS sheet would contain all kinds of useful tech data like viscosity, major additives, CSt, boiling point, drop point etc.

None of the photos show anything but basic labelling on tubes. Rottefella isn’t in the petroleum business, so this lubricant is almost certainly produced for them by a specialist refiner. (A small or medium outfit like Slickoleum, which does the same thing for various bicycle manufacturers).

The search continues…
