Grip Waxing Waxless Skis. Clarification sought

for my patterned-base skiis (all Fischer Crown),
my incentive to apply wax to the crown portion,
is to prevent sticking/clumping (only).
The patterned base itself typically gives me all of the "grip" I could ever want.
So, I just hit it with Swix F4 "Universal" *glide wax*.
and for the tip/tail I have guzzled the Kool-Aide that
Swix Polar is the best, for backcountry skiis.
