I believe it's chock full of smallpox and 'GMO'. Hate made it taste too bitter and Agent Orange burned the throat. Next year I plan to try both bleach and chloroform.MikeK wrote:Hahaha... and hey, is any of that hypothetical weed packed full of hate and agent orange? Just curious...

Smallpox I can handle, pretty sure I got a vaccine... GMO on the other hand... well... I think it's safe, but I don't support it for ethical reasons
Re: Gardening thread 2015
No gardening. Not really much any needed. These are the best natural HW glades I've found. They would be absolutely perfect with a day or two of cleaning up blowdown. With enough snow, most of it won't be an issue. Problem is I don't know how much snow this area will get. It's at just under 2000' but it's not exactly in a snow band. It's only about a half mile ski to get to. Pitches vary from what I'd guess 5-10°to 30° for about 600' vertical and funnels into a natural bowl. Whips are very minimal.
Odd thing is, about half mile in either direction from here, the woods are loaded with scrub and prickers. It's like a little oasis.

Looks like a nice place! I'll bring you some poutine if you show me your gladed! Sounds like a deal?
Re: Gardening thread 2015
You can come anytime! Poutine or not. I'll show you, it's not hard to find. I'll show the real steep shot too if you feel adventurous. It gets really steep on one side of the bowl.
When I was walking it today I wondered if you guys would ski it. I wouldn't!

I think a lot of that is steeper than it looks on the camera... You'll have to come out here to see the steep part, I don't think I could photo it well.
Like I say, it a 600' vert bowl that start off really steep to the left and then gradually gets flatter as you head to the right (looking from the top). The really steep part is maybe 200' vert and drops down in the bottom of the bowl, which is maybe about as steep as the right side. What I was on in most of the pictures is about the same pitch as the area you took me to in Sutton Johnny, it's just tree'd, and that's probably the widest, most consistent pitch.
Actually the entire hill drops down 1000' but it looks like it chokes off at small ravine after 600'. Those areas tend to be full of Hemlock which makes them ice pits.
Thing is, the steeper parts aren't as clean. More whips and tighter trees. Although I do see some clear lines where it's maybe about 25+deg (just estimate, it's as steep or steeper than most double black ski trails). I don't know what it is at the steepest part, it looks straight down from the top, but it's probably only a little over 30deg or so.
Strangely enough, I spotted something interesting across the valley when I was her scouting. I'm not sure if it's on public land but I need to go back and see. It might just be a network of logging rds, but they look really wide in some spots.

Topo of the area. Gray shade appears to be the best area to ski, orange star is about where I took the pictures from.

Re: Gardening thread 2015
I just made two new trails last month. I never cut trees, never. Only a few branches. I always choose the most natural, open path. Using 3 other secret trails, it goes from the top of a mountain right to my door. A 5-mile descent spreading over 2500' of vertical... Pure XCD fun!
