@Krummholz
What is the altitude of the lake?
It looks like autumn leaves have fallen off already.

@CIMA The lake is at 8369’ / 2550 M. The Aspen peak up here, N 40 deg, 15 min, about the 3rd week in September. First storm to come through in October seems to take most of the leaves off the trees. I happened to be out hiking today and ran across some trees that still had their leaves. Most are bare or with a few hanging on. Higher up, 9000’ / 2743M to 11000’ / 3353M is SubAlpine Fir and Spruce, tree line (Krummholz - twisted, stunted trees) is around 11000, and Tundra above that to the tops of the peaks, 12000’- 13000’. https://www.nps.gov/romo/learn/nature/n ... ystems.htm

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
I was pretty surprised to find out that the lake was located at such a high altitude because there were so many trees around it. Usually, the timberline in Japan is at 6560 ft / 2000m.

Nice waxing bench, all the right tools… and a complete quiver for all kinds of skiing @spopepro.
Plus the beer… which is a nice touch.
In another week, will be waking my skis up from hibernation by removing them from their bags and scraping off their protective storage wax coats.

No elevation changes greater than like 60ft around the homestead, but tamarack trees are neat.

Love those boggy Lakes… Little Ducks in autumn, Chickadees in spring.
