You might have eaten them unknowingly already when you had miso soup somewhere around a mountain area in Japan.xcdnewb0313 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 7:16 amThose are some tasty looking mushrooms! Mushroom foraging is one of my favorite shoulder season activities
The flowing river never stops and yet the water never stays the same.

Thank you @Tom M for the Google Earth tutorial on YouTube. I got my Skin Track route for this year all ready to go. Wish Goog had a layer with Topo lines.

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
This might help
go to https://www.earthpoint.us/topomap.aspx
click on the "view on Google Earth" button. This will download a kml file that you can open in Google Earth. This works on my system. It can be a bit slow, so be patient.
here is a screen capture of their site

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
@Krummholz As a followup to my previous post. The topo maps used from Earthpoint are pretty old and not very high resolution. There is another way to do this by downloading the topo maps directly from the USGS. Here are the steps.
Go to https://ngmdb.usgs.gov/topoview/viewer Zoom in to select a location to pick a specific topo quad. Once you pick a location, there will be many topo maps in several different formats which you can download to your system. In this example, I picked the 2021 version of the 1:24000 scale map for Grand Teton Wyoming.
This gives me the option to download this topo as a JPEG, GeoTiff, KMZ or GeoPDF. For Google Earth, download the KMZ file. The downloaded file is a zip compressed file and contains two KMZ files, so extract the two files. The first file (the one without the "ortho" at the end of the file name) is the one you will want to load into Google Earth Pro. If the KMZ file extension is associated with Google Earth Pro, then just launch the file and Google Earth Pro should open up and the topo map will show up as one of the items in the "temporary places" folder. You can also just use the file, open commands from within the Google Earth Pro program to open the downloaded file.
Here is what the USGS topo file that I downloaded looks like when loaded into Google Earth.
I can see where this might be very useful as you can toggle the topo map layer on and off.
Enjoy

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
Well after looking forward to skiing local the SnoTel was saying go higher, did the 45 min drive to Winter Park and found a trail I’ve skied in the past had close to 2’ and no one had touched it yet. So fresh pow to Yo-Yo on. Next time I’ll bring the powder skis. Just not enough float from the sB-98s.
