Snow tracker
Re: Snow tracker
went up north to our version of mountains today to see what the snow was like. 3 feet in the woods still. Was able to tour and turn on firm but skiable base. It was surprisingly nice for this late in the season. We got great views of a basically ice free lake superior from the top. Lots of rain in the forecast...

Re: Snow tracker
More snow on Mt. Hood.
Ski areas report 140" base and 450" - 500" snowfall this season.
Still waiting for Spring snow conditions.
Tuesday, 4/19 did a split day of NTN / K2 Wayback 88s in the AM, and NNN BC / Ingstad in the PM.
Pictures are from afternoon, near treeline (~6,000').

Wow @Stephen! That's enough to make this Midwesterner flip gotta wig! How was it? That's some old snow.

Re: Snow tracker
Upper mountain snow is still pretty good — less dust and dirt up there, and more snow, of course.
Lower mountain is getting pretty thin and dirty.
They move snow to maintain a trail back down to the parking lot.
They also maintain a well used terrain park.
Parking lot has cars with license plates from all over the US.
Lifts open at 7 and close at 2.
Early morning snow is very crunchy hard.
To be honest, I resort to P turns for that.
Mid-morning it starts to soften up into nice corn, and I can switch to Telemark.
Afternoon is thigh-busting slush, but I’m happy to ski all 7 hours, and 21,000 vertical.
The worst part is trying to walk after the 1-1/2 hour drive home!
Timberline is open for another month, but I think I’ll call it quits for 21/22 — only four months until 22/23!
