Thats what I thought, it's been almost 30 years but it jarred something in my memory.Woodserson wrote:It's the Sherburne Ski Trail descending from Hermit Lake/Tuckerman Ravine to the bottom of Pinkham Notch. About 1,900' of descent. It's great this time of year because it's not giant VW Bug sized bumps and it's relatively quiet. Come springtime... Anyway, a nice ski.

Yesterday, rode lifts in the wind and the start of the storm. Today, 4am alarm, skins on at dawn, turns earned.
1 run was way too short and sweet, but I should have been working. And there were already liens at the lift when I left.

The transition to ski was comical. Wind howling. Snow going sideways. Found a moderate place below the top of Madonna to switch over. I need to practice this.

Just saw reference to Mansfield and Teardrop. I imagine it's excellent right now. Probably got hammered today. Guy 2 doors down splitboarded it today when I was skinning at Smuggs. Haven't talked to him since his wife dropped by and took my kiddos to the park with their little one.
I need to get up there. I've snowshoed and hiked all over there. Never skied, mainly because I need someone to go with that is ready with short notice, and because I'm pretty new to backcountry with velocity involved.

Earning turns on Madonna at Smuggs. Climbed 2015' and did a run down. Home for breakfast.

Pictures, pictures and pictures! La Côte à Godin
Not exactly legit, but who cares? I was in Les Éboulements last week-end and I saw that steep closed road which serves as a snowmo playground... but there was none! Someone groomed the slope and only one snowmo passed by. So I took my skins and went up with my GF... Nice Vista! We could ski a little bit of crud/powder (it is south oriented) on private propriety (we were very respectful though) and we had a groomed area for ourself! Best of both world... Excursion with 3pinHW on touring ski. First time this year that I am earning my turns; that bronchitis took more than a month to go!

These are some random pictures from Chugach State Park from over the years. I don't know about anyone else but I have a hell of a time organizing my photos. I can never find what I am looking for.
