Just an update. I finally mounted them up. The adjustment problem was because I didn’t remove the spring unit, but tried to spin the spring barrels in place to adjust length. They do detach Cannatonic to answer your question.
Here are a couple of photos of the finished set-up. Sorry they’re upside down. I’m going to try the Ski March boots again and, if they don’t work out (they’re the Wide), I’ll be shopping for another pair of Norwegian welted boots. Which have the narrowest lasts?

Please tell us more about how easy it is to add and remove the cables on the trail. That’s critical to a lot of potential users.

Thanks for the info on boot width Ben. The springs are easy to take on and off on the work bench, about as easy as the Hardwire springs that I switch between my TTS set-ups. However, I don’t think I will take the Rotte springs off on a ski trip as I have the 10mm Traverse riser so they can just sit flat behind the 10mm heelpiece.

Crispi Antarctic are super-nice boots for this type of setup, much lighter than Ski March and narrower. If you truly have narrow feet I'd look out for used Scarpa leathers, IMO they have the narrowest last I've seen.
as pictured that is a SOLID setup for telemarking, you can generate a lot of power with the Ski Marches and cartridge bindings. Why not try a regular pair of Ski Marches from ebay? There is no better deal for $75. My favorite boot now is the Andrew Rifugio, but it's only available at Adventure Nordique and their stock is running low. Those do run a bit wider than Antarctic. These boots are much softer-flexing than the Ski March however, you may need the thick sole of the Ski Marches to power the cartridge bindings.
