Now, for the slopes, if not like there are any NEW slopes, just that the politics of it all have changed and there is a lot of runs opening up and being explored all over the chic-chocs, not just the park. Basically, if your serious about it, get the book I linked to earlier.
I live for the Telemark arc....The feeeeeeel.....I ski miles to get to a place where there is guaranteed snow to do the deal....TM
Camping in winter only shows Mt Albert campground... are there backcountry winter campsites?
Ah, the backcountry ski area map shows basically what I thought was permitted and prohibited in the park. The areas of Mt Albert, Logan and Jacques Cartier prohibited. Lac Cascapedia and Ernest-Laforce areas are open for exploring. For xcd, the tour to Serpentine hut and La Grande Cuve is probably the nicest terrain and sights.
Outside the national park, including the reserve faunique areas, I understand are free range exploring/camping. Which I think offers the best dh skiing anyway. Lyall, Hog's Back, York, Porphyre, Montagne St-Pierre.
Ya, I've had the book for a few years, great info.
There was a website for the association (edit... found the name... Cooperative Acces Chic Chocs) promoting and cutting new slopes in the Gaspe... I can't find it anymore... do you know anything about that?
Also the Mont Blanc area... anyone have any info? I'd heard from locals that random skiing isn't permitted, but people go anyway. Is that because of the guide company in the area?
