He won’t come back to be told what to do by an aging skier with bad knees and a one track mind… even if supported by a lackey or two.

I may have a one track mind, but I've skied both heavy and light gear this season on a variety of terrain, including alpine terrain. Who said my knees are bad? They are fine, mostly because I get enough control from the T4s that I don't crash.

Being that you are inexperienced I'll tell you what can cause you to crash. Light gear. The lack of stability of light gear combined with how easily your skis can get deflected by surface irregularities will either make you ski less aggressively or increase the chance of a fall, due to no fault of the skier.

Again, this shows your inexperience Manny. If all gear was equal we never would even need plastic boots, active bindings or wide stable skis.

You’re missing the point. The skier makes the difference. See this on the hills and bc all the time…. Ppl with the latest swag, can barely stay upright… ppl doing amazing things with much less.

Hard to notice that when you’re looking in a mirror admiring yourself… or taking selfies… or telling other ppl what they should ski on.

@Manney, you seem to have a chip on your shoulder, like ppl are just generally f’ed up or something. Especially old people (wherever your cutoff for old is).
I want to be clear, I don’t know you as a real person, just by what you post here. In real life, you could be a great guy. I mean, you expressed positive wishes for me in my recovery, which I appreciate.

It’s just these endless posts that really have not much actual content to contribute.
It’s like you are not ADDING much, more like you are trying to SUBTRACT from what other people post (and it seems some people in particular, who are generally well respected by others here).

People here that I like have mentioned that the general tone of the forum is down-trending lately, which is turning them off and discouraging participation.
I want to be clear, that statement is not directed SPECIFICALLY at you.
You are not the only one, just the most recent.

I’m fine with you staying on if you want to let go of the in-your-face quality of your posts, if you want to actually contributing based on you experience, rather than cryptic links to external content.
But what I’ve seen so far is just a downer.
Again, to be clear, this forum is not about being a mutual admiration society, we all slap each other on the back and drink the kool aid. There’s plenty of room for disagreement or alternative points of view, but I don’t have the sense those are what you offer. Bluntly, a lot of your posts just seem toxic.

I don’t get any joy in saying these things in a public forum. You can search my posts and look for my defense of forum members others may have had low regard for, and I would do the same for you IF you were actually contributing something, instead of mostly taking others down.

Al cannot post anything without reminding everyone of his awesomeness, decades of experience. It turns people off who are tying to move the sport forward. Go ahead… see how many times he actually posts stuff that doesn’t contain a reference to himself while dragging ppl down to his level of lameness. Some of his posts contain more “I”s than complete sentences ffs.

There are a group here are well past their bbf dates. Instead of showing wisdom of age, experience and giving ppl info to consider on their own, they TELL them what to do… what to think… what to post and not post. Turns out you’re one of them. Disgraceful… not deserving of being an American with that kind of attitude.

PS. Cryptic links to external sources is doing two things… giving ppl the opportunity to self learn, acknowledging authoritative sources. It is the opposite of narcissistic bs. You’d know that if your nose wasn’t so firmly up the backsides of others.

Who do you think you are, Stephen. Really. You've been shown you nothing but kindness and understanding from me at a difficult time in your life.

Some do so freely expecting nothing in return (altruism),
others as an investment hoping for a future payback (Machiavellian).

I like posts/threads with a high SIgnal-to-Noise ratio.
Stuff that helps me be a better skier, and or shares the stoke of skiing.
YMMV.
