Finally!! Boot drama over for now. The size 46 Alpina Alaska was too long. Alpina really needs to release a model of this boot with a non-narrow toe box. They would probably double their sales.

This year I am going with the Alfa Kikut 2.0 Perform. First impressions out of the box- It is very light, the tongue is poorly thought out, the quality of the leather is just ok, they are much roomier than they look from the outside, not much ankle support, they are super comfortable- they fit on me feets. I doubt they are very warm, so I put a wool insole in 'em, and I am considering putting my Yeti Gaiters on them. Next year I will try to find something like the Alfa Guard and break it in, don't have time for that now. This boot will be a good tooling around boot after the Guard is on board for tours. Not very excited about them but should be blister-free anyway.

So the touring set up should be a little lighter this season- with the Kikut, NNN-BC Manual, and Fischer 78 replacing the Alaska, NN BC Magnum, and the Fischer 88.

The Swedish ski team might experience Hell in Norway this month.
Looking forward to it on the distaff side. :-) I'm hosting a breakfast watch party for the family of my wife's niece on March 9. She just finished her first Vasaloppet here and has done the Korteloppet at the American Birkebeiner once or twice. She and her sister know Diggins from their school days in Stillwater.

Me, I'll be cheering for Skidronningen aka the Energizer Bunny, notwithstanding my Swedish surname. Her advanced age does not seem to have slowed her down much this winter.
